I listened the entire 3 CDs and the quality to me is outstanding, much better than the original album. I downloaded the original FLAC files from Uploaded.net though
Don’t bother to download FLAC you can have the same by just downloading mp3. Question is maybe even mp3s are fake and upsampled to 320kbps from the lesser quality?
So is you want to test the CD quality before you buy the record, that’s not the way….

You can’t make movie music fans happy these days. People share wonderful things for free and they keep complaining. Personally I’m grateful and satisfied both with the Harry Potter collection and Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

So whatever sound issues you might have are likely with whatever audio devices you use, or just the simple fact that it simply does sound like that.
I should say though that a few select tracks off PoA (https://imgur.com/a/axh7VAl) do in fact have lossy material in them, but that is merely an issue with the source files and not some odd conversion fuck up on the end of the uploader. For anyone too bothered by this, the material in question can be found on the original OST and can be fixed easily (though one track is microedited on the album, so that’s something to keep in mind).
I hope this clears things up, as I’m not really a fan of misinformation being spread.

I am not sure about the fact that all of Purple’s post are being upsampled. Using the same program that you recommended to check for fakes, most of the files are true flac, with one or two that are considered fake for example Prisoner of Azkaban, and those seems to be source related ie not good sound in the first place. Perhaps the only way to be sure is to include a Rip log and Cue-Sheet like what some other people did. Schindler’s List tracks from Miss Purple are shown by that program as true flac.
All the same, am still grateful to sample all the music that is provided by Miss Purple.

Yes, i agree that we shall be grateful to the people who come forward to share their wonderful things for free which cannot be done by others. The intro is stuck in an earlier cue. Also the film version can also be ripped from a podcast. (and already was)

I ran them through Audacity and they showed frequencies above 20khz, like a real lossless source… I know it can be faked with DSPs, but it needs a little work and not a simple transcode.
I also had false negatives with Lossless Audio Checker, with CD-rips I’ve done myself (which showed as upsampled).
The FLAC files may seems to be legit… I’m not an expert though. I will be glad to read other thoughts.
Someone having the CDs checking the original rip, now we know that higher frequencies cut-off is on the record, and does not come from transcoding mp3 files.
Finally is it LLL’s fault or raher that’s the master quality, and we cannot do anything about it.
We can say, that’s not Miss Murple fault (my apologies), but that the music we have on CDs.
Now what about Dracula? Is it also so bad 🙁

I really loved Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban more than Sorcerer’s Stone. I really enjoyed the music. audiochecker v2.0 beta Seems to be more correct than Lossless Audio Checker. Most of my own CD-rips show a CDDA probability of 100%-99% (and at the very least above 85%, which is very rare).

audiochecker v2.0 beta Seems to be more correct than Lossless Audio Checker. Most of my own CD-rips show a CDDA probability of 100%-99% (and at the very least above 85%, which is very rare).
The FLAC files from Miss Purple may be legit/true CD-rips.

If you talk about my logs from audiochecker v2.0 beta above, they were taken from Miss Purple’s FLACs… I’ve just put the extracted files on my external drive, and I’ve placed them on structured folders for each disc of the release, that’s why the logs mention this folder (G:\Music\John Williams\Harry Potter 1… And the Philosopher’s Stone (La-La Land, CD1 The Film Score)). I’ve renamed a few things (Sorcerer → Philosopher, rewritten the track names with a format according to my taste : "track number" space "name of track"), but you shouldn’t be distracted by the names above… they are Miss Purple’s files! 🙂
It’s the same music when the kids enter the hall called "Through the Doors " so apparently the Diagon Alley track was meant to play in the film before it was changed to "Through the Doors"
I’m guessing Through The Doors playing instead of Diagon Alley was a decision by the director while this release reflects what John Williams originally intended.
so "Azkaban" is not all film versions of the cues? Like Titanic? ugh

Well, I wonder what differences or changes they made to the music when released on the film, but seriously I think what we have is already very good and bountiful! I’m just happy that through reading these posts, I’m now certain to say that these are true lossless flac files. I’ve just added them to my collection. Sorry to have participated in the doubt, but it ‘s good to get to the bottom of things sometimes. 🙂

At his point there’s no doubt that Miss Purple files are "the real thing", but in case anyone wants to check by him/herself, this is how to do it with Audacity and the new share by KevinG:
– Import the same track from each set to Audacity.
– Align them:
– Press the secondary button of the mouse over the digits of the Selection toolbar and choose "hh:mm:ss + samples" or "samples" to have sample resolution when doing time shifts.
– Use the zoom tool (glass button on the toolbar, or Ctrl + wheel) as much as necessary to reveal the time shift the tracks have. It helps centering the view it in transient peaks at first, and in zero amplitude points later.
– Use the Time Shift tool (double arrow on the toolbar) to move a track horizontally so the two waveforms match.
– Repeat the last two steps to have the samples perfectly aligned.
– Compare a small part.
– Activate the Selection tool (vertical cursor on the toolbar) and select a chunk of both tracks, by dragging diagonally from one to the other.
– Use Analyze – Plugins – Sample data export. The default values should be OK.
– Compare the numerical values of the .txt files generated.
Such comparison only proves that those small chunks are either identical or different, but it’s often enough to extrapolate to the whole track. A real proof would require the complete check, for example by trimming both tracks to discard the unaligned samples, exporting them as raw audio and performing a binary comparison or checksum (rar or 7-zip would do the trick for the latter).
I did the short test to the first and last file of each Potter soundtrack and all those chunks were identical after an invariable shift correction of six samples (Miss Purple’s starts 0.0001 seconds sooner, KevinG’s ends 0.0001 seconds later).
This was kind of a "credit where is due" from my part that may be interesting to some. Now I’ll follow PeterJJ’s wise advice:
