Mother 3: Natural Killer Soundtrack
Shogo Sakai

Why another Mother 3 soundtrack?

There are currently two complete soundtracks available on the Internet: A GSF rip and a MIDI transcription.
The GSF rip is perfectly faithful to the original, right down to the static and artifacts that plagued the Game Boy Advance.
The MIDI rip, the "Ultimate Mother 3 Rip", skipped the GBA’s processing, giving a much cleaner sound. However, the transcription was automated and often inaccurate.

This release is the MIDI version, manually edited to be as close as possible to the original. All vibratos, broken loops, and most volume problems have been repaired.
I named it merely to differentiate it from the other MIDI release. If you don’t like the cover there’s a plain pink one included 😛

Here are two short samples showing the difference:
GSF vs NKS (https://mega.nz/#!2ihSAahL!mxfuKptTMuIs0ARxdAuir5NkHl71rDNMfWjyN00lnY0)
Ultimate Rip vs NKS (https://mega.nz/#!yu40HCoL!oJoCdt6CqjfnDwcGzIeXvAyx_jrXkegfh9tUQbG-gdE)

It’s not perfect, but i think it’s the best there is right now.
Enjoy

I’m uploading MIDI only, my internet is terrible. If someone wants to upload other formats, go right ahead.
I recommend Foobar2000 and the foo_midi plugin, both for playback and conversion to other formats.

Version 1.2, 15 tracks have been edited to remove annoying echoes:

Thank you GreatWhite for the MIDI edit and Sanctferum for the MP3s. I’m curious if you also adjusted that annoying ‘8-bit echo’ in some songs that is way to loud in the Ultimate rip (like in Unfounded Revenge). I will find out soon enough though haha

I also like the Natural Killer Soundtrack subtitle and cover! Nicely done.

edit: Well I guess you didn’t, what a pity… But nevermind! The rest sounds good.

Sorry about that. I lowered it in places where i thought it was really bad, but it’s harder to adjust them because the right volume is subjective :/

EDIT: I’ve edited my first post. I uploaded 15 tracks with reduced echo, including Unfounded Revenge.

Oh wow I wasn’t expecting you’d actually go back to fix it! Thank you very much! 🙂

Hmm now that I think of it, would it really hurt if it was completely removed? Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot better now! But I guess the only reason it’s there is to give the GBA’s lacking audio more resonance, and personally I can imagine those songs without it working just fine.

Please don’t take this as a request or anything though! Just a thought. If you’re happy with the result, maybe you could list those 15 songs and I try to remove it myself? I know Hippos and Unfounded Revenge have it, can’t remember what the others were (it’s been a while since I listened to the M3 soundtrack heh).

The ones i revised are listed in the Info.txt file, unless i messed up with the new upload. I didn’t do hippos :/
