So, a bit of a follow up to this thread.

First of all, thanks tons for this needledrop (and all the rest in the other thread), understand that I’m not trying to knock you or your gargantuan efforts.

Thing is, it would seem that the songs here are a little sped up. When I first played them, they sounded a little off, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it at first, so I decided to do some investigation.

As an example, I loaded track 2 (Lights, Camera, Action! – Studiopolis Zone Act 1) in Audacity, alongside the 24-bit FLAC download that comes with the vinyl record. And I noticed that the 24-bit version that you download is a bit longer. This means that the vinyl rip was shorter, and hence, sped up, making everything sound ever so slightly higher pitched — that’s why it sounded off.

So, I laid both tracks such that they both started at the exact same time, and then by trial and error I slowed down the vinyl rip version until both had the same length, and sure enough, it sounded fine after the lengths matched; to wit, I multiplied its speed by 0.979 to get the desired result.

What turntable do you use to digitize these records? If it has a fine speed controller, maybe try tweaking it. I think there are stroboscopic test disks you can use to calibrate the speed to help you with this.
