SonikkuBlur’s Sonic Lossless Thread

So, in this thread I’m going to be uploading official lossless Sonic game soundtracks, both mainline games as well as spin-offs. This means no game rips, YouTube rips; only official and lossless sources (CD rips from officially released soundtracks, digital downloads, etc.)

Later on I will also be accepting requests, but I can’t guarantee whether I’ll be able to fulfill them or not, but as before, of only officially released lossless Sonic music. I can’t do game rips, custom compilations, etc.

When possible, CUETools and/or AccurateRip logs will also be provided to confirm authenticity of a genuine, lossless rip; if there’s any release you see without logs, unfortunately, neither the CUETools database nor AccurateRip have the release in their records, but don’t worry, the rip should be fine.

The releases will be listed in chronological order of when the respective game was released. In the case of a release representing more than one game (such as Sonic the Hedgehog Boom, which represents the US version of Sonic the Hedgehog CD as well as Sonic Spinball) the game with the most musical content will be used. There will be a specific and separate section for compilation albums that span multiple games.

Each link will be in the release’s name, and after the download is done, remember to change the extension from .gif to .zip. There is no password.

That’s what I like about Sonic music; some of the games may be mediocre or even downright bad, but the music still ends up being at least above average.

Edit: my bad, it’s from the Saturn version, but still sounds great. I also very highly recommend you download his remasters of the Genesis Sonic music and the Saturn version of 3D Blast. Those rips imo are the definitive way to experience those soundtracks.

I uploaded the Japanese Sonic X OST here (Thread 225853) as was pointed out, but I’m not too sure all those ending themes are on it. I distinctly remember trying to see if those were on it and I was slightly disappointed at them not being there. However, the opening theme is there in its four versions: the shortened one for the actual opening, and three full versions, one with both singers, and one each with each individual singer.

Why are they in a gif format?

It’s likely an extra means of preventing takedown systems picking up on them (Ex. I’ve had MediaFire label one or two files as Copyrighted in the past, but they nor anyone else has ever taken down any of my data as I’ve often seen for MEGA links). But there’s nothing more to correcting that than renaming ‘.gif’ to it’s original ‘.zip’ file extension:

Yes, as Bizargh said, I did that to attempt to thwart automated copyright takedown mechanisms. One could figure out what the file actually is by opening it in a hex editor and examining the headers, but that requires a bit of technical expertise and someone from MEGA manually inspecting the files, which seems a bit far-fetched.

Either way, I’m still around. Expect new updates to this thread soon. 😉

This is the digital download that comes with the LP that was released in 2017 by Data Discs. Like the vinyl, it only has the new tracks and none of the reimagined ones. It is in 24-bit, 44.1kHz FLAC format.

I believe this (and its sequel, Vol. 2) were only handed out to attendees of an event in 2016 and 2017 hosted in Japan, and aren’t for sale, so it’s going to be remarkably hard to find.

Additionally, I believe Jun Senoue himself has explicitly stated that he does not want them being shared, so …
