Almost certainly, yes. You’ll note all of the official Sonic Mania releases have this issue: they don’t feature the themes from what were originally Sonic 1 and 2, presumably because SEGA has to pay royalty to Nakamura every single time.

There’s a torrent that has FLAC game rips of the Sonic 1 and 2 themes from the Switch version though if it helps

thanks for the upload, although bear with me i find this album is pretty repetitive compared to Selected Edition, hard to believe Sega actually made three different soundtrack album for Mania

Yeah, most of the novelty here is that this is now a genuine lossless version — I guess the new songs and the Hyper Potions tracks are also a good bonus.

Does anyone know why some of the stage songs are omitted from (as far as I can tell) every official soundtrack? Two that I can think of off the top of my head are Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone. Either way, thanks so much for the upload!
