Remember to archive everything!

I’m not exactly sure if posts like these are allowed, but considering how this site seems to be targeted for hacks and the like, it’s a good thing to keep in mind. Plus, at least for me, there was a moment when the site went down big time, which got me thinking… "What if this site went down for even longer, or for good?" as much I didn’t want to. This site is amazing, it really is, and it’s like a treasure trove of rare stuff (or at least stuff my average-level Google-fu couldn’t find), but I think that’s the reason why we’ve got problems.
Even if you’re trying to keep a level of secrecy with the downloads (especially because they’ll likely get taken down on bigger sites), I don’t think it’s a good idea for the only download link ever to exist here. Maybe they exist elsewhere too, but more than likely, the site would be on some shady/spammy stuff.

So, ITT: We discuss ways to keep the downloads alive. Bonus points if it helps keep a level of secrecy. Starting with the obvious, I’m well aware that most people can just keep everything on mediafire and MEGA and then post them elsewhere should this site die, but, that’s not foolproof either. Some really old mediafire links are inaccessible, and this might be me taking a bit too much happy juice, but I remember MEGA being the same way between it being taken down and being brought back up.

Soulseek is a the best place imo. No links to be taken down as the files come directly from you. That and Filetopia. You can control who sees your files too.

i dont like using p2p programs. having to download each file individually and then hoping the asshole doesnt deny you the download? no thanks.
because of the pusification of this site, i have other sites to download music of, if i wanted to, sarabande or whatever the fuck its name is, resident evil, fox, etc etc.

I don’t really care about the downloads or for that matter losing any active links. But I’ve archived the whole custom covers thread a couple months ago 😀
