Thanks for sharing. I had no idea Bates was in the running for this. Haven’t given it a listen yet, but I’m so glad they went with Desplat instead. His score was not only one of the best of 2014 (along with Maleficent & Noah), but it’s also one of the best of his career. I’m still somewhat irked that he got the Oscar for Budapest over this.

This is a CD sent to producers (in this case from Tyler Bates, but I assume many other composers did) so that they may choose a composer for the film, in the case of Godzilla, Alexandre Desplat was eventually chose to score it.

I think (but I’m not entirely sure about this) that most of the content of the CD is *not* original material written in advance for the film in question, but a selection of tracks from previous works of the composer so that they may get an idea of how an eventual score from him may be.

I wish I could have downloaded this, but unfortunately, the link died before I could.

Can someone re-upload this one?

As Imperivm have said, this is a submission album, the submission are always comprised of previously released material and in any case new unreleased music for the film.
In this case you will find Doomsday, 300, God of War Ascension and Sucker Punch…
