Notes regarding the Blade Runner Ultra Edition
I got some messages asking for music sources and a breakdown of the edits, so I have now included liner notes with the download. For those of you who didn’t get the complete notes before, here are notes for the mix including info on the added extra tracks I made for the Extended Edition https://mega.nz/#F!YBEWnSiI!2MxnwDRLhzWOG5NMK3jo2w If I have made a mistake regarding sources tune names etc I’m sorry, but please tell me so I can correct it.

Liner notes sample

First off I never intended to share this mix with anyone when I created it, not because I’m a mean old fart,(LOL) but because I made it for myself, and was sure no one else would like the way I mixed it. I thought that way mainly because many members of the FFShrine forum are constantly looking for the score exclusively without any FX. And if people feel that way I can perfectly understand it. Also I never minded the voice over in the movie in its earlier incarnations for the most part, but I do prefer it now without. However in terms of this mix I really wanted to include some of it, as it really makes me feel like I’m there in the middle of the Blade Runner environment.

I know the movie purists out there feel it unnecessary in the movie, and we all know its inclusion was to help 80’s audiences understand the story better as a result of bad test screenings. But I liked it because of the noir detective vibe it gave me. I will say during the creation of the mix there was some voice over that was so badly written I couldn’t bring myself to include it. The voice over I did use, while at times being a tad on the nose, worked within the realm of the movie, to me sounded appropriate in the context of the mix. The project took many months and went through various changes and versions, I edited it mostly in Sony Vegas which, although a movie editor, gave me great flexibility using several timelines one above the other. Other audio processing/recording was done with Adobe Soundbooth & Audacity. Where possible the music tracks were 16 bit Flac files. I used cross-fades between tracks, reverb, and other tools I could to tie everything together as a complete coherent mix.
I hope you enjoy it.
