Bit disappointed to hear they haven’t used any of Djawadi’s themes… especially since they used them in the trailers. Djawadi’s Pacific Rim score might be one of my favourites of his movie scores, so I’m gutted he didn’t come back.

Just one small correction…the score does uses the main theme in the fourth track, a semi-awful mix called "Go bigger or go extinct". Balfe is not a bad composer, but his score is just serviceable IMO, while Djawdi’s music gave the first movie a lot of additional punch.

This could be one of Balfe’s best scores since the video game soundtrack Modern Warfare 2.

I mean, it’s a remix of one of the score tracks from the first album. I was looking forward to the new score incorporating the theme, they were fools not to realize how married it is to the "rock ’em sock ’em awesomeness" aspect of the movie. On the other hand, they USED the theme in the trailers so on some level they knew. Maybe they didn’t have the budget to work it out with Djawdi? Any way you cut it – huge mistake.
