Angel Heart is a 1987 American neo-noir psychological horror film based on William Hjortsberg’s 1978 novel Falling Angel. Written and directed by Alan Parker, the film stars Mickey Rourke, Robert De Niro and Lisa Bonet. The story follows Harry Angel (Rourke), a New York City private investigator hired to solve the disappearance of a popular singer known as Johnny Favorite. Angel’s investigation takes him to New Orleans, where he becomes embroiled in a series of brutal occult-related murders.

Classic soundtrack from the totally marvelous 1987 occult thriller from Alan Parker.

Superb soundtrack interspersed with dialogue. Moody, atmospheric and sadly incomplete on issue. Still love a full version one day.

The UK soundtrack is quite rare (I still have this on vinyl) whereas the US version omits ‘Soul On Fire’ and replaces Glen Grays’ center piece track ‘Girl Of My Dreams’, with a saxophone version, God knows why.

I would assume the Basin Street Blues was recorded for the film, I have been through several copies of that track, and none come up to standard, and yes you maybe right bout Anthony Evan’s Gospel Song, not sure what that is, that maybe another record for the film only.
