I hope that some of you are familiar with the names of Seizo Watase and Ken Shima, otherwise check this thread (Thread 222443) for greater enlightenment. This album is a perfect example of how an image album works both independently and in conjuction with the comic/manga illustrations. As reflected in the album’s cover art, the story and influences of "Hurricane" is akin to that of Dick Tracy comic strips. So, if you know the context and tropes of those stories you can easily imagine what kind of music to expect here.

Ken Shima delivers an authentic experience of southern sounds and jazzy music from the U.S., which is very notable coming from a japanese-based musician. Most of the tracks here may be categorized as mood-setters, because of their moody and calm nature, but there is enough variety to keep things going. The most advanced and adventurous track is the title track (Hurricane) and if you like some fiery and hard-boiled playing this is a real treat.

A spectacular atmosphere to enjoy with your ears!
