Really great performance, with the exception of hearing Colin Davis’s grunts and humming throughout — particularly noticeable during some of the solos. 😉

Thank you for this!

I have got the 2ch HD layer. Thank you Bob!

The best version of Verdi’s Requiem I ever heard is the one by London Symphony Orchestra, directed by Richard Hixcock (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Verdi-Requiem-London-Symphony-Orchestra/dp/B000000B00). Unfortunately it is not available in SACD format.

However, I’ll give this one a try with much pleasure. 🙂

You always come up with the good stuff, thank you very much! Last week I was lucky to meet Riccardo Chailly and watch him rehearse Verdi’s Requiem with the La Scala musicians. Fantastic!

It was, especially the rehearsal with the soloists. He constantly advised the Tenor to sing like Pavarotti.
