WHAT IS THIS?
Android Assault is a fairly well known, and pretty decent shoot-em-up for Sega’s ill-fated Mega CD. Not many seem to mention the soundtrack, however. Which is absolutely fantastic. Very much in the vein of sci-fi rock a-la Gate Of Thunder but with a distinctly New Wave touch (those of you that like early-80s new wave bands, be sure to try this) and many dashes of synthery to go with the strong riffage and lead guitars.
My goal is to present to the community well-mastered Original Sound Version / OST music of the greatest soundtracks video gaming has to offer, with an emphasis on early/mid-90s obscurities and classics. This OST was not particularly well mastered and some tracks were not mixed as well as they deserved, with very muddled mid-range (I say that a lot but it’s a common problem). With my usual sympathetic mastering touches everything now sounds far more consistent and powerful, though some tracks are still a touch messy. Early 90s mastering for retro games, ladies and gents, it’s a challenge.
The audio for this soundtrack was taken from a CD image of the game. I have rearranged the tracklist to make for a better listen as an "album", but you could of course re-arrange them and put them back into a CD image if you wished.
