Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Extended Edit) (Again) – John Williams

Here (https://mega.nz/#!StxmCTKJ!IpwwdX4rhw_7eWMiZBP46sHqzBm-fTmP4kUSus-SSWo) is yet another edit of Star Wars: The Last Jedi combining music from the official album and the FYC. This is an alternative to CGCJ’s edit of the score with fewer, lengthier tracks.

There are a few differences between my and CGCJ’s mix: first, I included a mixture of the OST and FYC versions of "Finale," as music was different across the two (the OST version had more themes from the film, the FYC eventually became a reprisal of The Battle of Crait); second, I included recreations of the music for the teaser and trailer for the film, as ripped from YouTube (I ripped them so long ago I don’t remember the creators, unfortunately, otherwise I would give them a shout-out); thirdly, I made new track names (I tried to give the titles the format and style John Williams does); fourthly and finally, the cover is from the custom covers thread of this site, but I don’t remember who designed it, otherwise I’d also give them a shoutout (it should be attached to the audio files; if it’s not, let me know and I’ll post it).

Some of the combinations are unavoidably not great (most notably in tracks 1, 7, and 22), but I did the best I could; I think, all in all, the mixing and editing is pretty alright, save for those few rough cuts. A lot – and I mean a lot – of the hard work was done by CGCJ, who deserves way more credit than I do (they did a bunch, I merely combined some things and added a very tiny bit).

Also, for the audiophiles, the original format I used for mixing was kind of a mess, but now they’re all AAC-encoded 320kbps m4a.

I am by no means great at mixing music, so hopefully these efforts will tide us all over until someone more talented can come along and do a more proper mix.

I want to give thanks to Cameron007 for uploading the FYC in the first place and for CGCJ for making a great mix that I put my own spin on.

Also: always edit in lossless. Convert the MP3 to FLAC and edit from there, prevents any further quality loss 🙂

Thanks for the tips. I would say that both mine, which is good though imperfect, and CGJC’s are meant more to hold everyone over until something better comes along.

Definitely. Initially I was a bit underwhelmed with Williams’s work for VIII (mostly by the lack of new themes), but, the more I listen to it, the more I appreciate its intricacy and am swept up in its awesomeness.
