Never heard of this one. I’ve only heard the 1966 recording w/ Sir Colin Davis conducting and the 2006 recording that’s conducted by Rene Jacobs. Both of them are great recordings, in my opinion.

than the stard CD, after much compared listening. I do hear that the instruments and voices have more presence on the SACD rip. Thank you, Bob, for giving me a great birthday present! 🙂
God bless you richly!

Hi Bob! I don’t mean to request here, but there seems to be one track missing? Is there something before "why do the nations"? There’s an odd click inbetween "how beautiful are the feet" and "why do the nations", suggesting something is inbetween them. I checked and checked, but found none. I wonder if you’ve missed a track in the process. Many thanks for answering!
It’s been three months since I uploaded this, and according to MediaFire’s records, there have been seven downloads (including yours) of the Surround Sound tracks, and nobody has raised any concerns before. You might want to try re-downloading. Also, what media player are you using? I use WinAmp, and it does a fabulous job with .flac files for me.

I’m sorry to trouble you, Bob. Thanks for explaining. The timing is the same, and I use Foobar 2000 for playback. I downloaded the stereo version, and just redownloaded it. But compared with other track connections, this particular group has issues. If there are no missing track inbetween these two, then perhaps we can conclude that "their sound is gone out" was added after the premier.
Thanks again for clarifying!
First, this version of Messiah does not include "Their Sound Has Gone Out", so that must be something Handel included later in London performances. I checked the artwork to make sure, and the booklet notes explain that Handel re-adapted “How Beautiful Are the Feet” for the Dublin performance, and part of this process was the omission of "Their Sound Has Gone Out".
As for the click, I opened up the "join" between the two tracks in Adobe Audition and zoomed in and sure enough, there’s a break in the sound wave pattern that should not be there. That’s what’s causing the click. It’s very quiet, but when I turned up the volume to maximum, now I was able to hear it.
I checked the Surround and Standard CD Audio versions to see if they had the same thing, and they don’t, oddly enough. I would have at least expected the Surround Sound version to have the same thing since it comes from the same disk layer as the Hi-Res Stereo.
So I am going to try re-ripping/extracting those two tracks from the original SACD and see if the same thing happens. I usually use FooBar 2000 to do this, but this time, I’m going to use "iso2dsd". This adds one or two extra steps to the process, but "iso2dsd" is more stringent about its extraction process than FooBar.
If I’m able to get a cleaner extraction, then I’ll do a re-up.
Either way, I will certainly let you know what I am able to come up with.
Thanks for your patient discussion about this, I’m going to do my best to get this fixed.

The total timing with the new set according to WinAmp is 2:19:35, but the old copy was only 2:18:20, so I’m embarrassed to say that apparently FooBar 2000 clipped off a total of 75 seconds at the end of various tracks. iso2dsd has fixed this problem, however.
But anyway, there’s a new set of links in this thread’s OP now, and I would definitely recommend that everybody who downloaded this previously get yourself a fresh copy. (Except for people who downloaded the standard CD Audio version that is, you guys are completely unaffected by this, since the CD layer is completely separate from the SACD layer. Also, the scans/artwork are unchanged, they remain exactly the same as before.)
My apologies to anybody who may have experienced any problems with this, and many thanks to davidlai for bringing this to my attention, and for his patience during our long discussion to figure out and track down the problem.
No, Bob! It is I who should be thanking you, for making this so wonderful! I’ve downloaded the files now, and now there are no clicks, at last!
Thank you so much for what you’ve done, and sorry for causing you so much trouble, that you may have to go back and start all over again. Maybe it’s my nerdy ears…
Still, thank you for making this version perfect! I really appreciate your work and patience in all this!
