Hi, many thanks for Marriner with Bizet.
A very neutral interpretation, with a little British touch 🙂
As a vinyl, the recording (stereo) is in the record shelf next to Ansermet and Paray, Pretre and some other French.
In my youth I probably to often heard these showpieces.

It’s actually exactly what I meant in my comment in the OP about Marriner “staying out of the music’s way”. It’s all a matter of taste, I do recognize, and I would certainly not want Marriner’s approach with more dramatic music, such as the Mahler Symphonies, for example. But for these little miniatures, it seems to work very well to my ears.
