Can we give more reputation daily?

Sometimes, I am backtracking on the forums and want to give reputation/thanks to uploaders.

But, it says that ‘no more reputation to give, no more!’ . I don’t know, what is the daily limit; 10?

Because, I feel bad if I don’t give rep-thank to uploader while downloading a file of hers/his.

I believe that to give reputation and thanking boost morale. Uploading/sharing is fun, but it takes much effort.

By the way, since there is a limit, what is reputation used for? Can we convert them to bit-coins?

I think the limit is 4-5 times, that’s when the board "stops" me, at any rate. Also, reputation isn’t "used" for anything around here, just useless crap which is simply there, luckily.

Giving a reputation is a nice gesture on the receiver’s part. Acknowledging and thanking the poster for their generosity for sharing the music. How much does it mean to you in getting a link to the music you desire?

Think about what it means also to the person posting and sharing the music. Everyone that I have downloaded music from, I have sent them a reputation. Even if they didn’t ask for one, that’s how much sharing their music means to me. I’ve given out a couple thousand reputations because I feel they deserve all the hard work they put into posting, ripping, scanning the artwork, uploading to the file hosting service and fulfilling the requests with a link. I know this because I’ve done a lot of music sharing here on the shrine.

There are probably 90% of members here that do not share their own music and only request, download and never bother to give a reputation which is fine because they are not obligated to do so. As moderator Leon Scott Kennedy pointed out in another thread and I agree with him that "users should never be forced to share/contribute anything to the forum, they shall do so of their own accord. …..trading: give something back and I’ll give you something else in return …. not allowed". The 10% mostly old timers, who generously share their music, do give out reputations to other members who share.

I know the frustrations of giving reputations all too well. You’re only allowed to give out a maximum of five reputations per 24 hour period. I’ve discovered that you can give an individual two reputations within a 24 hour period, if you place him/her in the first and fifth position, to be separated by three different people.

Example: John / Laura / George / Sharon / John

For the next 24 hour period and so on, you’d have to separate by three different names again before you can give John another reputation. This is why you cannot give back to back reputations to the same member soon. So I understand very well, the waiting period and the reason why a person cannot quickly give a reputation again.
