As I’m a huge fan of the series, I’ve spent more than a few hours crawling the web looking for any and all snippets of the score that I could add to my massive Ghost in the Shell collection (seriously, I have 17 different GITS scores on my hard drive). The end result? An album with (at the moment) 14 tracks produced by ripping the audio released online. Now, I should also add: as I’ve not seen the movie (I struggle to enjoy movies in theatres; I’m much more likely to enjoy something I can watch at home), I could not attest to the order of the tracks and have thus left them unnumbered.
Until a more formal score is released, I hope this this will tide people over who, like me, liked the music they heard in the assorted clips released online.

You need to copy the link with the key, or else nobody else can access it.
Link now updated.
And yes Corysun: all the content is in mp3 format.

You’re refering to going online to find snippets of score… does this have vfx in any way? Did you use DVD/RIP audio channels or is this all whatever was online in completed form?
FOR ALL OF THE PEOPLE READING THIS THREAD: I CAN CONFIRM THIS HAS FULL DIALOGUE AND VFX. Some tracks seem to have been somewhat cleared from dialogue/sfx wherever possible, other tracks have been left completely untouched (mostly in the case where dialogue is present), such as Kuze’s dialogue, for example.
So far it sounds pretty good though, still worth the download.
So I hope those who download this understand where I’m coming from and, like me, appreciate being able to at least hear what Mansell and Balfe put together.

I decided against including the Depeche Mode cover of Enjoy the Silence by Ki: Theory as that’s readily available for purchase and I’d rather that people support the band by purchasing the tune.
I think a bootleg or FYC Promo release is much more likely to happen that an official release.
I agree with this. We’ll see FYC with the visuals but doubt the studio will care about the score, really.
I actually really love the dialog. Reminds me of the Blade Runner soundtrack.
And Mega has given me a takedown notice.
And time to find a new host.
So explain this to me:
A person can post vids to youtube with the exact same music as in my link – and that’s okay, but me, putting up a link of said music? That’s not okay?
What the frell?
Hi Hazardic,
I’ll find an alternative place to upload the files tomorrow, and post a new link then.

Use Mediafire instead.

It’s been an incredibly common thing for the past several months or so for MEGA links to reported. It’s happened to everyone on here. It’s been suspected that it’s a bitter user that wants everything gone in the film section, since the stuff in the other sections are still up and running. So yes, MediaFire is the best way to go for now.

Thank you for doing this, I really liked the score in the film and the lack of album release is my biggest album-situation disappointment of 2017.

The ironic thing is that whoever is doing this is contributing to the rise of users getting PAID to pirate scores, since this anonymous warrior’s crusade against ffshrine Mega links corresponded with, and most likely directly caused, the rise of certain users posting links on sites like uploaded.net and using services like adfly to get paid for downloads and clicks. Back when we were all using Mega there were far fewer links to crap paid upload sites because it was just easier for everyone to quickly and freely use Mega. So this person who thinks they are on a crusade for justice actually just screwed up the economics of the situation even more and helped exactly the kind of user they probably most hate, those who are getting paid to distribute music illegally.

Regardless of the film’s story quality, visually it’s quite excellent. Paramount certainly wouldn’t put out a score FYC on its own merit, but maybe they’d include it in some sort of ‘package’ that tries to primarily sell the film on its VFX. Paramount has been generous before.
On the other hand it’s got a lot of odds stacked against it. The end credits prominently feature Kawai’s ‘Chant’, rendering it ineligible on the basis that "[the score] has been diluted by the use of pre-existing music". Additionally – and this one may have more to do with "needle-dropping" – a score may be deemed ineligible if "it has been assembled from the music of more than one composer". I dunno if this unusual collaboration is in violation of that, but if it is then Paramount’s FYC guys might not even bother.
Thank-you for including these pieces from the score. I really like Clint Mansell and Lorne Balfe’s work on it – they created some nice pieces for the film while echoing Kenji Kawaii’s original score in subtle ways.
Actually I think Mansell may not have even listened to Kawai’s original score, or if he did, it might not have been temped into the film. One interview I listened to with two of the sound designers for the film revealed the interesting nugget that the "spotting session" of the film involved not just director and composer, but a lot of the sound guys too. The session was probably more about how the audio as a whole was going to congeal, not just how the music should sound in this one scene. No temp track, just the raw audio from the takes.
Now take a look at the end credits listing for "Balfe’s Sessions". There are a ton of special credits for Japanese instruments and singers. None of that for Mansell’s scoring sessions. What probably happened was that the film received sucky reception at test screenings, producers freaked out, and thought that the best way to maybe get a little sympathy from real audiences would be to have vague references to Kawai’s score for the anime.

I’m still confident that Paramount might do it. They made FYC Promo for TF4… they certainly might do this as well, regardless of the Academy rules for composers.

Just making sure thay you’re aware of the new GitS movie album they did put out. The inspired by the motion picture one produced by various electronic artists. If not, peep it. Pretty dope.
Thanks HunterTech. Appreciate the explanation. And now I find myself wondering why someone would want to deny people access to art? (Hey, if I could buy the album, I would, but it’s not like the record company’s releasing it or anything…)

Just updated the original post with a new link (http://www.mediafire.com/file/zc53mh7wczo7qp2/Rabbits.rar), for those still after this music.
IM24CTU: thank you for the cover artwork! Unfortunately I only saw it after I’d finished uploading to a new site. I do like it though! Thank you for providing it!

Aye, I did get a chance to listen to it, and…boy oh boy was it not my jam.
For who liked it: huzzah.
Sadly, not my jam though.
Hopefully this link stays active a bit longer, and is a force for good in terms of justifying to Paramount or whomever else that a score release is absolutely worthwhile.
