Description:
Beginning in 2014, an ongoing series of concerts of composer Akira Ifukube’s music were organized in honor of the composer’s 100th birthday. The first three concerts focused on Akira Ifukube’s film music career, featuring suites from the composer’s well known film scores, as well as obscure scores. These three concerts were all performed in 2014, with CD albums of the concerts released between 2014 and 2015. An additional ‘Best of’ album was released in 2016. It compiled the best suites from the three concerts, including a suite from the third concert that never made it on the third concert’s CD release. Unfortunately, I used to have the CD releases of the first three concerts, but I no longer have them.
Also in 2016, a fourth concert was organized and performed. This is the CD release of the concert, which was released on May 31, 2017 (Akira Ifukube’s 103rd birthday). It features "Homage to Akira Ifukube" (a collection of short pieces composed by former students of Ifukube, using material originally from the composer), "Rhythmic Games for Children" (a collection of music composed for small orchestra in 1949, to be used as teaching material for school children. This is the first time that the original orchestral version had been performed since 1949.), Suite "Ivan and the Pony" (a suite assembled from the score to artist Seiji Fujishiro’s shadow puppet play "The Humpbacked Pony" (1953/1975)) and selections from the score to "Gauche the Cellist" (1953). The actual performance featured additional music that didn’t make it on this album.
This year, a fifth concert was performed on April 30th. It featured suites from more of Akira Ifukube’s well known film scores, plus a suite of music from three documentaries. A CD release is unknown at this time, but I’m positive one will happen.

Track 10 composed by Kanichi Shimosa.
There are a couple of errors within the track details of Suite "Ivan and the Pony". It is stated that Wheat Field in a Russian Village is a part of Movement 1. It is in fact not in this album at all. Another error is Shrine of Light in Movement 3. It is not in Movement 3, but the beginning of Movement 4.
To let people know, tracks 30 and 31 were noted as "Untitled”" in the booklet. So, they were titled as untitled.
I also want to point out that this is the first time that the complete Japanese track list has been made available online. I personally worked on it and the English translated version. The English translated track list was recently made available online at the Godzilla Monster Music website by yours truly.

Glad to know that you’re a fan of the composers. As for me, it’s quite obvious that I’m an Ifukube fanatic. I’m a fan of Yasushi Akutagawa as well.
Anyway, thx a lot !

I knew his music for Godzilla but I think I feel closer the rest of his works. More emotional and intimate.
May I ask for the links to all the volumes you’re sharing on this forum? So it’ll spare many commenting and messaging 🙂
There’s nothing more exciting in life than discovering new music, new art, and being touched by it!

All I currently have are Vol. 4 and Vol. 5 at this time. I used to have rips of the first three volumes, but I no longer have them. Unfortunately, I do not own copies of them, therefore I cannot make new rips.
