A couple of months, I created the abovementioned thread. It consisted of a "reconstruced" Main Title of the 1977 film made from takes 18, 19 and 20 the were available on the last track of the 2CD 1997 release. They sounded better than the same Main Title on track 2 of that same CD, so I was compelled to create this "new" version as a modest contribution for the film’s 40th anniversary. It took me a hell of a time to make it. Are Star Wars threads not allowed anymore?

Here was the link: Thread 216166

Leon, I’ve been trying to PM you, but your inbox is full. That’s why I opened this thread.

This one post alone should tell you everything (Thread 49829)

Sucks, I know, but it’s a thing we’re gonna have to deal with now.

20th Century Fox? I thought Disney owned Star Wars… :/

Not the original Star Wars. That remains at Fox forever. Regarding 1-3 and 5-6, you’ll probably have to wait til 2020 to be safe about them completely.

Basically, they’ve banned everything Fox ever had a hand in. Because Fox owns the distribution rights to Star Wars on physical media until 2020 (so I’ve been told) and total distribution rights for Episode IV in perpetuity, it was decided this means Star Wars music is banned too. I would imagine this currently does not go for the films Disney have made, nor does it go with games where original material was composed instead of using the original recordings (IE KOTOR or the new Battlefront)

I think all of the Star Wars originals and prequels are gone, regardless of the distribution rights of the music. They are not allowed because 20th C.F. made the films, and it’s something unchangable.

LucasFilm made the films, 20th Century Fox just distributed them. But as said, Fox still owns the distribution rights to five of these for the next three years and for Episode IV permanently.

From my understanding of it, the new rule affects every film score from a film produced and/or distributed by 20th C.F.
Then, they should give us more details because what was written in the thread is pretty vague.

There are no more details. What Sarah wrote in that thread is all we have to go on.

That’s all too complicated for me. I really thought Star Wars was a Disney thing now. This 20th Century Fox issue really sucks, but I guess it’s pretty clear that we’ll have to play it by the book now. 🙁

Maybe Fox owns the film distribution rights, but the soundtracks are all owned by Disney 100%? Ah, who the fuck knows.

I’ll repeat it here again: I know just as much as you about it, folks. Sarah wrote: "Nothing from 20th Century Fox Film Corp. may be posted," I’m going to stick by that, unless big boss herself feels like enlightening us all… Assume that whatever 20th Fox had a hand in is no longer allowed.
Also, as far as I know, whatever got added to the forbidden list ended there because the "real deal" contacted the staff… As for how they do get wind of this place, FFShrine is pretty decently indexed on the likes of Google.
