Yes. My sentiments exactly.
Give Giant Robo a good, permanent home on your collective playback devices!
Give Giant Robo a good, permanent home on your collective playback devices!
I remember first watching it around ten or so years ago. One thing I remembered about it was the music. Again, I’m glad we finally got a lossles rip!
Brandon, are you saying that you were watching Giant Robo for the first time only ten or so years ago ?? If that’s the case, then I’m really feeling old.
My first time was watching Voyage Into Space on the KTLA Channel 5 evening movie (the movie came on right after Bowling for Dollars hosted by Chick Hearn, if I recall correctly).
My little sister and I were hooked immediately (hooked on the Giant Robo, not the bowling)! The very first time we watched, I remember she cried at the end of the film. She must have been 5 years-old.
This would have been about 1973 or 74. We grew up in Los Angeles County and KTLA was Gene Autry’s tv station.
My mother was freshly divorced and had to work every night. That meant that my sister and I would be home alone, sitting in the dark while bathed in the glow of KTLA. That tiny Toshiba b/w tv only got like 3 or 4 channels. We hadn’t been exposed to middle-class luxuries like large console color tv, remote controls, etc, so didn’t know what we were missing. We didn’t care about those things anyways.
Watching KTLA meant a steady force-feeding of endless reruns of B and C-grade movies each night, and a steady diet of California Angels baseball "games" whenever they played.
The Angels were horrible, and always playing in the shadow of their crosstown rivals, the LA Dodgers. Now that I think about it, the Angels are still horrible.
Lotso memories, both good and bad.
As far as I’m able to recall, we never got the Johnny Sucko tv show in southern California. Around that same time I do know they had the Johnny Sokko and His Giant Robot tv show in the SF Bay Area. Southern Cal not feeling the Kaiju love back in the day!
Yes, I’m also glad to finally have a LOSSLESS rip of this soundtrack. Mostly, I’m glad I was able to even find the CD.
You can search years for whatever you want but if you can’t find that elusive freebie, eventually you’ll have to bite the bullet and open your wallet.
Anyways, I couldn’t have found Giant Robo w/o your help, Brandon. One hand washes the other, right?
That’s what I’m saying. HAHAHAHA!! I’m only 21, so… xD

Cool! I think "Voyage into Space" was how I discovered Johnny Sokko, but I can’t remember for sure.

Wow! What recollections. Every once in a while I’ll thing of past life events. There are sure some interesting ones.

Well, that must have sucked.

You and me both. I plan to pick up a copy sometime in the future.
You can search years for whatever you want but if you can’t find that elusive freebie, eventually you’ll have to bite the bullet and open your wallet.
Yep, I’ve definitely been there and done that. Also, it’s sometimes good to have the physical thing.
Anyways, I couldn’t have found Giant Robo w/o your help, Brandon. One hand washes the other, right?
HAHAHA! Yep. Whenever someone contacts me requesting something, I do my best to help them out in any way I can. I was glad that I managed to track down an affordable copy for you. I’m certainly glad that you and God knows how many others are now able to enjoy album. It was a pleasure helping you out and tracking down the album.
They don’t call you Darth Sphincter for nuthin’ 😛

ps – to anybody who decides to leave rep points in the future, it’s nice to be liked but not necessary as the sun will still rise in the morning.
However if/when you do leave rep points, please do leave your name so I know who you are 😉
Thank you.
I have grown old to the likes of UFO Grendizer, Goldorak/Mazinger, Great Mazinger/Jonga/Gigantor, Tetsujin 28 and many more. This seems like a prelude to all the anime that was to follow.
Will keep your request in mind dear friend! 🙂
Have a great weekend!
Thank you in advance.
B 😀
oliverino & BilliamSilliam; you’ve won that Blind Date with The Giant Robo!
"Come on down!"

Thank you, Lord Sphincter!

edit: It’s fantastic, all the crazy out-of-this-world jazziness that I remember, now in full bodied clarity!
Done. Enjoy.
