So, there’s been a small level of panic after our PM inboxes were replaced with "Microsoft Sender 13".
Some people are feverishly wondering if the Shrine’s days are numbered.

There are a lot of good people here, and great music enthusiasts, and it’d be a shame if we ended up scattered to the four winds. So I’d like to find a way to create some sort of network with you all.

As do I! Once I was wanting to set it as the font for my profile page, but upon next visit it always reverted to another font (update; Times New Roman). So that doesn’t work. 🙁

You can always tell someone means business when he’s using Comic Sans.

As some might’e mentioned, I already have Cloneboy and Rumple on dial up in SoulSeek, and Ponyo has the Discord to rely on in communication.

I’m more willing to have direct contact with DAK and Sonic Adventure though, seeing as there was a lot of business I was intending to finish in conversational matter with them. It’ll difficult, considering PMs are off limit at the moment, so I can’t copy and paste anything, but I’ll sure try.

No, people are just panicking for the end of the Shrine for the 50th time.

Good idea. Anyway we need a new website to replace the Shrine, since i think VBulletin is pretty outdated (or atleast the version which is used for the shrine ?) and the administrators are pretty inactive

Thats the only place where you can find a lot of rare stuff related to OST (such as Recording Sessions/Complete Score for the collection sake, unofficial rips, some rare old albums in lossless or 320k/V0 which aren’t available anywhere else). Using the google search helps a lot finding stuff (which is forgotten/unknown of many people around) : name of the thing you want site:forums.ffshrine.org

To keep in touch, maybe something like a Skype group/IRC could work ? Discord also a good option, but i don’t know about privacy, thought there shouldn’t be too much problem with unofficial rips, BUT there can be if people talk about creating a new shrine or about some ‘illegal’ unreleased stuff (even in PM) so i don’t know

I had set up a "backup" forum about a year ago, but ironically it went down a few days ago when forumatic closed down forever.

I think to set up another forum might be the best option, because imho a mailing list is in no way a proper replacement for a discussion board like this one.

Right now, nothing. The Shrine is still active and there’s no need for me to scramble around looking for a new discussion platform. And they’re staying with me and me alone.
But I’ve been chatting with another film score fan here and we’re talking about maintaining a new forum if/when this one dies out. You’ll only hear more about it when that day comes.

I really dread the possibility that something might happen to permanently shut down this site. I don’t know of any other music sharing sites as good as this one even though I’ve seen a few posts where other members mention that they are active on similar sites. I don’t know if these alternate sites are private or accessible to general music lovers but they’re unknown to me save one or two. Just as a precaution, I would very much like to be on your email list even though I hope it never has to be put into service as a replacement for the shrine. Thank you so much for this backup plan for keeping shrine members connected!! Email sent.

Try private trackers, such as PassTheHeadphone or Apollo, they only accept official stuff tho (so no RS/CS/Unofficial rips, tho some bootlegs are allowed)

To join them you need to pass an IRC interview, not too hard since all you need is here : interview.passtheheadphones.me (forgot the another one of Apollo, but heh PTH is better anyway, but the economy is worser)

Rutracker/Soulseek are also other solid options if you don’t have enough ‘ratio’ on APL/PTH to get your stuff from or just looking for very common stuff in lossless (talking about the like of Kanye West) then they are nice. You can also find them a lot of rarer stuff

If the site dies i will don’t know what do honestly, there is a lot of rare stuff which aren’t available anywhere else, and that would be horrible to loose them forever ! So this is why someone should be using MEGA/G Drive account to store them. 1/2tb monthly storage is only around 10-20$ usd, and you could share your stuff with people without worrying about your link being taken down or not, because you only allow them to acces ur personnal cloud.

Why waste so much time and bandwidth DLing terrabytes of data which you’ll never use?
If you’re worried about losing the content of the bigger threads, just download the 1000-post versions of the thread in HTML format.
I did that for the lossless video game thread, in case something happens to it one day. 15 or 16 files storing 1000 posts each.

And i’m mainly talking about old rips/RC/CS which are ‘rare’ and which aren’t findable anywhere else. (lossless official stuff can be on private music trackers)
