Should New Album releases get a 1 or 2 week ban until they can be shared here?

what’s your point on the subject?

Isn’t this like your third time making this sort of thread?
Gentlemen’s agreements don’t exist on the Shrine.
Though I agree that buffer periods would be nice. But what are you gonna do? People do as they please.

To be cautious – yes. There should be a 1 week delay at the least. We must be idiots to think that posting a new album release day one is a safe idea.

Who cares? They don’t get the new album from this place? Give it a few hours, or a few days at worst and the most recent thing will be posted elsewhere.

A few weeks ban isn’t going to do shit.

EDIT:
I wasn’t around at the time, but given what I read in the past, I’ve always been under the impression that Download Links was originally used to post obscure/hard-to-come-by stuff (examples: game-rips, out of print albums), if that’s true, it’s meaningless now, a bit too late to return to that setup.

Regardless of if we share right away or in two weeks — it’s still being shared, and that’s all the copyright holders will see. It’s being shared. Right away is the same to them as in three months. Well, most of them. Probably why Varese got unhappy.

I don’t think it makes a difference, you just want things to be shared later because you think that’ll make people share iTunes release with Digital Booklets.

TLDR; you don’t care, you just think stubbornly that it’ll get you releases with digital booklets.

TLDR2; I don’t care unless it’s a score I care about because I, too I’m selfish

This thread is a good example of pointlessness. What possible good would embargoing a release on the shrine accomplish? It’s somehow going to be less problematic if a score posts two weeks later as opposed to an early release?

"Sharing" is stealing regardless of the when of it. There’s no time limit on theft.

Besides, if it posts here, it will post elsewhere on the web, which is after all, worldwide. Hence, the www.

it has nothing to do with that. i buy far more itunes releases then you can count.
the reason is to give the labels at least a bit of time to make some money.
i’m fully aware that stuff will be posted on other sites like tehparadox. though,
most folks don’t like posts from their, because they will use file hosters like uploaded.net
and we know folks don’t like use those.

I agree. Unfortunately most people here have no respect for labels at all. It’s why I have never and will never post OSTs. In a perfect world this would be a place where, as LSK said, rarities flow.

Truly, FFShrine is the least important site for music piracy, things get shared in other places before it reaches Shrine, specially talking about film music.

You guys are making it more of a deal than it really is.

I’d be happy waiting. I barely listen to music these days.

But if someone decides to wait 2 weeks, someone else will post it.
And forget about anything lossless or not.
We can only split a hair so much before it becomes the microcosmic broom we all use to sweep problems aside in this larger than life universe.

Err… Folks, Ponyo is right, this is not the first "stop" for movie(s) scores and the likes. And, uploaded.net being shit? Not at all, here’s the truth: the average downloader at the Shrine doesn’t want to spend even a few dollars for a premium account, other piracy-driven boards (and not always with a "broader" range of pirated material being offered) have their fair share of premium users; it all depends on how much "you" plan to download.
Heck, if some of those who bother to whine about the likes of uploaded would spend THAT time to do little jobs or, fuck, whore themselves out once, the money for the premium would be quickly put together and the issue would cease to exist.

Final Fantasy Shrine is the "odd ball", when it comes to piracy, though it needs to be said that this dump doesn’t have active downloaders (meaning = downloading as if their lives depended on it).

Amen. I’m not naive enough to believe most people here financially support the specialty labels, but I would hope they do.

I’ve always been under the impression that Download Links was originally used to post obscure/hard-to-come-by stuff (examples: game-rips, out of print albums), if that’s true, it’s meaningless now, a bit too late to return to that setup.
I’m all in for at least a one-week ban, but generally speaking those new releases aren’t why I’m here. It’s the obscure stuff LSK mentioned. I’m here for unreleased music, out-of-print albums, and lossless versions of things I bought off iTunes or Amazon.

Give it a few hours, or a few days at worst and the most recent thing will be posted elsewhere.
Exactly. People can get their easy-to-find (and easy-to-purchase, I might add) stuff elsewhere. Let the scummier forums and public trackers take the heat. After all, isn’t that the purpose behind the "mainstream music" ban?

Leon Scott Kennedy

That ban is not going to change anything for the Shrine now, remember that it has gotten quite a reputation as one of the firsts places to visit for the latest video games/animes’ soundtracks releases.

In the end, nothing of what has been posted here matters for the Shrine’s survival: what we share here still constitutes copyrighted material, companies don’t care if "you" wait weeks, months… if they find out you’re sharing something that belongs to them, they strike the file and potentially get your file-hosting account terminated, stopping there, if you’re lucky.

The one way to ensure this place stays online is to wipe out the Galbadia Hotel website and the whole Download Links part of the forum. Everything else is a load of bull, companies don’t care about "good folks" which wait a while to share, in their eyes, they’re still pirate-scumbags illegally sharing what is not theirs.

Is there a single link on Galbadia Hotel that still works? Even if there is, who uses it anymore?

CLONEMASTER 6.53
11-16-2016, 02:24 AM
Ah… no. Galbadia Hotel now serves no other purpose than to lessen the chances that the shrine exists a day more.

How lucky we are. But slip-ups like the Hacksaw Ridge thread earlier today are not fucking helping!
