Are rewritable / CDs dead?

Have they been dead for years?

A lot of new car models are not including CD players, which is probably pissing some big music executive off somewhere. Even if streaming is the new fad, which means lossy compression, it’s very sad our nostalgic old friend is quickly dying. There’s nothing like burning a playlist and popping in a CD, hooking up an aux and streaming via Bluetooth is obviously going to be lossy, and, well, who hasn’t left a CD laying around to freak people out because you listen to weird video game music?

It’s definitely a bit strange to me that there’s this push to move away from CD’s. But as long as you still find ways to use them in your everyday life, I think that’s enough. Physical media isn’t dead quite yet.

I haven’t used a cd in the car as a normal thing for around 7 years since I got one with a usb port in it… I do keep a cd in the cd drive though just as back up. It’s funny you say this because I have seen some cars in the last few years that still have a cassette player!
