The child’s hand?
My guess – and a lot of people’s guess: Logan’s female clone/daughter X-23.
Notice the still bloody scar? Where’s his healing factor? Here’s what LRM Online said:
The R-rating means we’ll get some good ol’ fashioned swearing from our boy Logan.
Unlike some of its other X-Men predecessors, Mangold wants to fill this film with life-and-death stakes. People will die, and it won’t be cute or neutered in its execution
Logan’s healing powers are fading, and he lives in constant pain
He’s an alcoholic
Logan won’t be the invulnerable, indestructible force we’re used to. Mangold says we should "Go ahead and worry about him"
There’s a chance Logan may not survive this film, as he seems to have trouble fighting some low-level street thugs in this first scene. He’s a shell of himself
Mangold also posted a page from the script which starts with a good old fashioned Anglo-Saxon expletive.

When was X23 his daughter? In the ultimate universe?
X-Men
X-Men 2
X-Men: First Class
The Wolverine (the extended edition is fantastic)
X-Men: Days of Future Past (the Rogue Cut is great too)
Deadpool
X-Men: Apocalypse (YMMV on that one)
They’ve made several good X-Men movies. People just like to focus on the bad ones. Fox’s track record with X-Men is actually pretty good considering. The only "bad" movies are pretty much:
X-Men: The Last Stand
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
The only "bad" X-Men movies are those produced under the Tom Rothman regime when he had a lot of influence over them (Last Stand, Origins). The movies he had very little influence over (X-Men, X-Men 2, First Class) or made after his time at Fox (The Wolverine, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse, Deadpool) are the good ones. I really think the people saying "Singer’s X-Men movies were always bad!" just haven’t seen X-Men/X-Men 2 in quite a while. X-Men 2 is in fact considered the best superhero film ever made (competing with Spider-Man 2) prior to The Dark Knight. I’m sure some people just hate on the Fox movies because the rights aren’t owned by Marvel and just want the X-Men in the MCU, but honestly the X-Men movies aren’t that bad. The fact there’s only three that are considered "bad" by critics (Last Stand, Origins, Apocalypse) shows that the movies are mostly good, and even the response to Apocalypse was just "it’s ok". 3 of your 9 movies being considered bad isn’t a bad thing and is in fact a pretty good record for most franchises.
I’d forgotten about that scene, I need to re-watch Apocalypse.
Thanks for the info.

I agree, only X3 and especially Origins are bad.
The others range from good to amazing (X2 and Days of Future Past)
And yeah, Deadpool was great too 🙂

I agree there. And if we count "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" off then that is one bad film. I still have to see the extended cut of "The Wolverine". Is it that good? I know it is R Rated, right?
The extended cut of The Wolverine is definitely a lot better. It’s darker, more character driven, more violent and seems closer to what the director intended. The third act is still a bit messy, but otherwise it’s a lot better.
Things are not going well for mutants. Births are down and corporations are creating private security forces comprised of the few mutants who are left.
My guess: the corporation leading this particular charge is Essex corp, led by Nathaniel Essex, better known as Mr. Sinister. (Although, another guess here, we’re going to hear him called Mr. Essex, not Mr. Sinister. Mangold tweeted he thought the sobriquet "Mr. Sinister" sounded corny. But maybe that was a smokescreen.)
Sigh…
