Itunes Updates (I Want My Color Albums Back!)

Everyone Knows By Now That Since The Latest Update The Color Screens Have Gone, Some Like This New Layout:

Others Do Not. However There Is A Way to Get The Older Version Back:

1.Unistall Itunes

2. Make Sure You Delete/Uninstall Anything Published By Apple.

3. Go To This Website And Download The Older Version You Wish To Use (https://support.apple.com/en_GB/downloads And Here http://itunes.en.downloadastro.com/old_versions/)
The Aug 1st 2016 Was The Last Color Themed Update.

4. Install The Program

5. Go To The Itunes Folder In "My Music" And Delete The Library File

The Program Should Work Normally Now, And Just Uncheck the System Update To Avoid The New Versions:

Sully, if you can find a website that offers legit legacy downloads of iTunes versions then, theoretically, yes, you should be able to downgrade. Keep in mind that iTunes is cooked into OSX and its upgrades so downgrading might break a few other plugins that worked fine before.

If you want to get rid of iTunes completely, use the AppCleaner application to get rid of the app and everything that comes with it (.plist files, etc).
Then find your legacy installer and install that.

P.S.: I prefer Apple’s way of thinking regarding desktop computing. All of the applications and its preferences are baked into the actual app itself. Windows doesn’t have that tight control over the Windows executables. Before you know it your registry is exploding with references and, when you uninstall apps, they almost NEVER make sure to clean up all of their crap that they installed. Everything gets left behind, everything clogs up, slows down, breaks, and you need something like CCleaner to get rid of cache, clean up dead links in your registry, broken pointers, etc. Trust me, Apple does it way better in this case.

After All This Once Itunes is Open Go to The Setting and Disable Itunes Update.

Ehhh Apple make that kinda thing a lot more difficult and convoluted, I’m afraid. That’s one thing I prefer about Windows – it’s logical and simple and you can customise everything in that way.

Thanks for the advice, Dave! I think I might just stick with the iTunes I’ve got currently. I think it’s the least dangerous choice here!

That does sound more logical. Guess I’m just not very savvy with the tech side of Apple like I used to be with Windows.

This is great – now a downgrade has been proven to be possible. But it is almost the much improved performance of the newest version that nearly keeps me from wanting to do it. :laugh:

Post your complaints about the iTunes "upgrade" on Apple’s website. Be polite, be succinct, be specific. If enough people point out the flaws, Apple will patch it.

Since I’ve no time limit, I’m going to wait a little bit. Contemplate. As I said above, it’s the better performance, and larger cover display that I like the new version. I’m not entirely for certain on it, I may even downgrade today. Who knows. It’s clear that each version has definitely got it’s pros and cons, though.

I suppose in addition I could probably ‘update’ or ‘revert’ between the two versions anytime I wish. :laugh:

Now a chief concern of mine is to hope that is does not corrupt anything at all having to do with my iPhone… in consideration that I’ve synced it with 12.4.3, than 12.5.1, I just don’t want to have the whole system and function between iTunes and my phone F.U.B.A.R. :p

Think of it this way – if you update iTunes your sync still works. Why would a downgrade be any different?
If you’re that concerned, get a flash drive as big (or bigger) than your iPhone memory size, backup everything and then try downgrading and syncing.
If it doesn’t work and your phone goes cuckoo bananas, just reinstall the latest iTunes version (first!) and then put your phone backup back.

Well, http://itunes.en.downloadastro.com/old_versions/ just brings me to the latest version… and 12.4.3 on iTunes support is specifically for older video cards.

Ah, I think I’ve found a legitimate installer elsewhere.

Program works, and everything, but did you have to add back your entire library when you did this? There’s nothing there when I open iTunes. Should I not have deleted the library file?

I’m laughing while people are complaining at the new iTunes. That’s what you get for updating without looking into it :p

Back when I still used iTunes on a Mac I actually went through this process several times… but Apple would graciously force the update upon me nevertheless. Thanks, Steve!

But foobar doesn’t have that cool colour thingy.

I found a theme that does a similar job, but it just does a solid colour and it’s slow as hell.
