Uploaded.net and Adblock

Hello all. I have recently discovered that uploaded.net started blocking its free downloads if it detects Adblock enabled – it throws a big "Hey, disable ads blocking!" in your face and that’s it, no going further. Thing is, I often use that site (via Download Soundtracks) if something here on FFS is no longer available or if MEGA’s acting up and that new turn of events bothers me a bit. Adblock Warning Removal List doesn’t fix it, at least not for me. Apparently an add-on called Disconnect does, but before I try it out myself, I thought I’d ask around here. Is anyone using that Disconnect thing or found a different way around that pop-up? I mean, sure, I can disable Adblock for that one site, but I wonder if there’s another way. uBlock Origin is the way to go!

I’ve heard a lot of good things about that add-on, but somehow never got around to using it myself. Is it really that good? And will it help with Uploaded’s new policy?

uBlock Origin is miles better than AdBlock / AdBlock+.

AB has sold itself to Microsoft and generally anyone willing to deepen AB’s wallets with cold, hard cash to let ads through, regardless of settings in AB.

uBO tends to behave better with most sites.
It doesn’t break a lot of functionality, unlike AdBlock who no longer cares how it works.
There’s also options for extensive lists to add to the blacklist if you go to advanced settings. Great for browsing notorious Russian trackers.

So any plugin/addon under any other name is not official and probably risky to use.

JDownloader should be able to handle Uploaded.

The only thing I’ve seen JDownloader need is for captcha/recaptcha user interaction.
other than that, it behaves normally for most host sites.
Worth learning how to use and organize.
Only issue is that it may not work on most 7zip formats.

Well, I did try uBlock Origin out and I have to admit, it is better. A lot. I guess it’s one of those moments when you discover something and ask yourself, "Why did I open my eyes so late?"

That’s true, I don’t even like using it that much, though it has one advantage – while it limits your download speed and makes you wait three stupid hours in between downloads, it is, how to put it…more available at times. I mean, if you’re looking for something and it’s dead here on the Shrine, you have to ask for a re-up and pray it actually gets through to anyone willing to help. It never happened to me on Uploaded, which is why it was my go-to place right after FFS (but don’t get me wrong, I love Final Fantasy Shrine!).

I only use one Filehost and it would never be Uploaded, uploaded is the worst.

I’ve only used Uploaded twice and each time I got a virus! Twice bitten twice shy, as they say (sort of)…

Bart Oss has been using it. Also, he’s been using linkshrink.net which is FILLED with malware.

I’d really like someone to address this issue. Why does he get away with posting links with malware for his own profit when everyone else is always happy to use mega?

Um…they all do. linkshrink.net is notorious for malware.

You DO eventually get to the link, but you have to go through malware to get there. That’s why I use my phone for his links now.

Reporting his links is the best way for mods to become aware of his activities, if they care anymore. If they don’t, I don’t blame them.
