After nine volumes, King Records finally released three more volumes of The Artistry of Akira Ifukube series in 2014. Volumes 11 and 12 contain music found on previous volumes of the series. This is mainly the case with this volume as well. However, this volume contains the obscure "Arctic Forest" (1945). This rare piece happens to be the origin of Ifukube’s Godzilla Theme! In fact, a lot of material from "Arctic Forest" would end up in a lot of Ifukube’s film scores, as stated at akiraifukube.org. Also included on this volume are "Japanese Rhapsody" (1935) and "Triptyque Aborigene" (1937). Enjoy!

They are truly amazing. The Artistry of Akira Ifukube series contains some of the best recorded performances of Ifukube’s concert works.
