I only ask because I am interested, but the steps to join are a bit too much at the moment. They say one can get in by simply asking someone there to invite you. That seems like the perfect alternative, but I don’t know anyone here that’s on there. Not asking for one, but I am curious.

If you google whatcd and torrent invite, you’ll get links to that site where there’s a few discussions about it.
"open trackers" lists it as ‘open signup’, since it technically is if you can pass the test.

A test is required to take if you don’t have an invite. And the test requires studying and pretty much copying/pasting the answers.
Try to put it in your own words and you risk sounding like a pschizophrenic talking about riding dragons to work when you mean the subway.
The content is very wide, and in multiple formats if available.
The rules are very strict.
Nothing like Shrine, so it’s a really good place already.
You also cannot post screenshots of the site anywhere, or of the test.
They’ll ban you for that, since they want to keep ‘private’.
It’s a ratio site, so if you don’t know what that is, you got a lot to prepare for.
Most public trackers (like rutracker, demonoid, etc) are all ratio-free. Which means you can leech to your hearst content without consequence (save any legal oustanding enactments).
For sites that enforce maintaining a ratio, you have to struggle and calculate your leeching ability.
Don’t think you can contribute much. They promote it and say it automatically, but the reality is that whatever you have, they have already.
Also if you get your stuff from rutracker and other public trackers without rules, and decide to contribute, if it turns out to be fake, expect it to get trashed.
There’s a lot they wouldn’t accept there that’s blindly accepted here with an open, sweaty palm.
I don’t think they have much rules about anything being exclusive.
You can find rare stuff there.
I’ve seen some of the rare stuff there posted publicly over here where there were no other copies around.
The only exclusivity there is if the uploader states it and asks for it to remain exclusive.
So there is honor there.
I’m very aware of the ratios, since I’ve had to post a lot on DIME in order to get anywhere on that place. I had only leeched and ended up hitting a brick wall when I had downloaded 5GB (the limit). I had to scour places to post stuff, as well as seed, in order to be able to leech again. It certainly taught me a lesson. I also had to get a VPN to deal with the firewall issue I couldn’t fix.
The thing with the test is that I know most things that are required to pass it, just not all. It doesn’t help that it depends on the person conducting the interview. Some, usually veterans, will be kinder and let some things pass in case you mess up. Others, usually the newbies, do not accept error. That’s why I’ve been nervous to take it. If I can’t really do too great in my last few school exams, what gives me the chance for this?
I could ask people for invites, but then I’ll look like I’m begging.
I should study and take it next week.

They want your real IP address.
As a matter of security and proof in case anyone says something happened to their account or someone tries to abuse the system.
No secondary accounts allowed, so using your real IP address is a means to prove you have just the one account.
You’d have to go through lengths to go visit someone nearby and sit through the interview just to create a secondary account on a different IP without being detected as trying to fraudulate your seeding ratio.
For FLAC music lovers, the place is a heaven, but it’s HIGHLY strict, you are demanded too much and it can be exhausting but oh it’s gotta be worth it.
It’s just lossless. You guys need a reality check.
I have plenty to share from the amount of stuff I have. Thing is, there’s a high possibility a lot of what I already have probably has shown up on What.CD, even with the rarer stuff I have. Even then, it’ll be stuff I pulled from SoulSeek, FFShrine, Dimeadozen, and other places, in addition to my own collection of stuff. Even with all of it being genuine, it feels odd for me to put stuff from other websites in another, even though I’ve done it before.
I’m still considering it, but it’ll be more difficult than I anticipated.

I would’ve said the same. I had to hit a brick wall in DIME in order to better understand what to do. That’s when I started getting good at it. It’s a good load of information to keep track of, but it was worth it.

I simply do not think image + cue works for me in the way it works for others. I like picking out individual files, as opposed to using a file to access another file. I don’t find it that convenient. That’s my opinion though. You’ll think differently.

I am not an iTunes fan. I am a FLAC, CD fan. What I get or upload from iTunes, is because it’s only available there. I don’t use iTunes anymore. :laugh:
But it’s nice to have variety, and yes, rutracker has a lot of What.CD’s stuff, THAT’S where I know that what’s in CD is awesome quality stuff.

I’m only asking, can VLC organize music like Foobar2000 or iTunes based on metadata or does it organize based on file structure?
I only use VLC for spot checking media, so I have not used it as a full media browser.
tehparadox is the only other forum with direct links.
There’s a few others, but tehparadox easily gets more attention.

Most FLAC rips from rutracker are almost worthless since they are range rips and will score a big fat ZERO on wcd’s logchecker, meaning anyone who comes along that doesn’t do a half-assed job ripping the album can trump your upload.

Not worth the monthly investment if you don’t intend to make use of the files you can get.
There’s seedboxes that let you setup PLEX streaming easily enough, so you can keep stuff on the seedbox then watch, then delete when the rules let you.
Rick and Morty was a decent watch like that.
I’m using mine for PLEX and ratio buffers at other places.
I’ve already grabbed a lot that I want so now most of the space is good for building ratios.
But WhatCD is a pain since you have to deal with so many torrents. I’ve got over 100 sitting there and doing nothing because everyone else is doing the exact same thing. Seedboxes based in EUR countries probably connect the most since that’s where most seedboxes are situated.
Try reading the Wiki. I heard it’s a good place to start, since it has all the tutorials on it…….

The rules say that user-made fan-edits are not allowed. And I inquired about Sessions before, it just goes in the Bootleg category. I’ve uploaded a few sets of sessions there, they’ve never been taken down, but the interest in them isn’t really there either.

Whatever sessions are there, I’ve already obtained from here.

What I meant by split cues is two compositions in one cue being split. The Cameron007 thread represents what I’m referring to.
