POLICE WOMAN, POLICE STORY, MEDICAL STORY, GERALD FRIED

Since there’s only an episode or two for each of these 1970s TVseries, I’m posting these in one thread. Suites of the short cues rather than separated. The only episode I was able to confirm was for Police Story. Not sure if the 19 minute episodes are the complete score or not.

MEDICAL STORY must be from 1975.

I`ve tried to find more information about the episode this score is from but could find anything.
Sadly not even imdb does list Gerald Fried as composer of the series.

Maybe someone who knows the episodes very well can tell, from wich Episode Frieds score is.

Here’s an Archive of American Television (http://www.emmytvlegends.org/interviews/shows/medical-story#) interview with Fried that mentions Medical Story at 7:15. He even mentions he contributed cues for Soylent Green. I didn’t know that.

For SOYLENT GREEN, it seems Fried arranged the classical peaces heard in the film, but composed no original music.

Just watched the POLICE STORY episode on Youtube. Although all the terrific action music is in the episode, a great deal of Fried’s somber scoring for the strained relationship between married cops Stella Stevens and Burr Debenning is not used – it’s replaced by library tracks from the first season by Jerry Goldsmith & Richard Shores. Also, Fried wrote some eerie electronic music that was obviously meant to depict the various scenes where drugs appear in the story – all of these are unused, and the scenes are left unscored.

One of the tracks has been fixed – see sadsack’s first post in the thread, it’s all been re-upped now. People who have already downloaded the score can get the track separately if they want.

Track 2 on "Police Woman: Pattern For Evil" had an issue at 5:33 to 5:57. The right channel abruptly dropped out, becoming muffled. I fixed it by pasting in a section from the undamaged left channel, and EQ-ing it slightly to match.

Perhaps you’ve noticed that the balance favours the left on the Police Story tracks. I’ve amended it on my end, including cleaning up fade in/outs.

Nope, no idea. I figured if I used every main guest actor from the series I’d be hitting someone who was in this particular episode. The series is so obscure (although I remember liking it when it was first shown) I doubt we’ll ever be able to get track titles for this.

There are episode list (http://ctva.biz/US/Medical/MedicalStory.htm)s to be found—an anthology series, there were only 11 installments—but how to identify which of those 11, 10 if you discount the pilot which was scored by Goldsmith, is the real stumbling block. I’ve come across no reference to "prod.#183406". If the last two digits were an episode identifier you would arrive at episode 6 "Million Dollar Baby".
