thanks, I remember seeing a laserdisc music video compilation of this specific album. I do feel old when I think about this music, haha. I agree later releases of many albums got louder in the worst way which ruined the dynamic range of music, especially the transients of tangerine dream music.

Had the LD; I have the DVD, too. Also free on YouTube. Both the LD and DVD have rare interviews with Edgar.
Search YouTube for "Luminous Visions" and you’ll fine the whole video (it’s pretty short).

Tangerine Dream’s best years were the Virgin Years 1974 – 1983 and different lables from years 1983 to the early 2000’s. The music after that really didn’t have that old Tangerine Dream feel to it. I remember buying all the CDs but was so disappointed when not one great track would stand out. Actually the last two project that Tangerine Dream worked on.. GTA V (Video Game) and a collaboration with Jean-Michel Jarre (Zero Gravity) was superb. Sad that leader Edgar Froese died soon after. Long Live Edgar Froese and Love Live Tangerine Dream.

For some reason I felt tangerine dream sounded a lot better on laserdisc than dvd, but maybe that had to do with the superb electronics of pioneer at the time. Pioneer was responsible for saving laserdisc from being another failed newer technology for a while at least.

LD (digital) was uncompressed PCM (like CD). DVDs can have PCM audio, but very few do to save space for video.
LD also offered analog CX audio, for that "analog"sound (tho’ it was modulated, like FM).
