VGM Crew, Movie Crew, Anime Crew ? No Matter, if you listen to one Genre 24/7 you become a bit exhausted, no?

So i wanted to ask what other Music you Guys enjoy ?

Mainstream as fuck or so outlandish that you are 50% of the People that listen to it,
make a Recommendation, I’d love to pick up something new ! My Horizon needs broadening.

Disney, in my Opinion, covers VGM and Movies, and does so very well !

Aside from classic rock (Pink Floyd, Led-Zeppelin, Journey & KISS are my favorites/staples), I recommend anything under the Italians Do It Better (http://vivaitalians.blogspot.com/) label, specifically Chromatics. They’re my favorite.

Classic rock, oldies, 90’s mainstream (Marilyn Manson, Ministry, White Zombie) all types of rock/metal that changed over the years to include as many stupid new genre-hybrids as possible.
Classical music is excellent. It can pump as much adrenaline as movie scores can.
Opera is mighty fine to listen to on perfect days with the just the right weather you’re looking for.

I can only go as far back as the 50’s and 60’s.
I can get into some of the olders stuff, like you hear on the Boardwalk Empire soundtracks.

Folk is very different terrain.
Japanese folk is great to play on quiet to set up an atmosphere. Taiko drumming from any group is worth listening to. KODO is a hoot and the most popular, but I find the more independent groups are more aggressive and fierce in the stories they pick.
If you had to make a simile, I’d say Kodo is more like Lisa Gerard. All softy and soap opera. While the smaller groups are more like Brian Tyler and Hans Zimmer.
Koto music is great to play when you need to concentrate or do something boring.
If you want to try something riskier, try traditional kabuto or geisha. Sometimes you’ll find something you hear in Memoirs of a Geisha where they added wooden instruments to it. Like wooden clapping, not drums.
A lot of ‘modern’ Zen music is all synth music run through a gaussian blur filter to make it all sound like one note stretched for miles.

From China, there’s Guqin which is similar. Popularily used in John Woo’s Red Cliff (part 1), and Zhang Yimou’s Hero.
Chinese drums for their dragon dancing can be be catchy, but severely different than Japanese taiko.

Other folk is hard to find. I found one album of ancient Greece folk music. One of the tracks was used in Gladiator.
That’s all there was to ancient Greece. You’ll find better stuff in movies like the original Clash of the Titans, etc.
Excalibur soundtrack had something dancy but probably more modern than ancient folk.

Native American folk isn’t all that exciting. A couple war songs but really didn’t live up to my expectations.
Not sure what band/tribe they come from, but they weren’t mine.
I tried asking my mom to ask any relatives up North how much of the drumming music they play is actually from our tribe and they all said none of it. It’s mostly all borrowed from other tribes. :whatever:

Metal Gear Solid has a song or two that has some awesome 80s sounding synth.

I want you to think about synth music. I want you to think about the TASTE of synth music.

My music tastes are hard to narrow down. While it is primarily electronic, there are other bands that play with a different style. It’s hard to think of a balance to really put in one word.

ELECTRONIC:

Daft Punk: Absolutely adore all their albums. They’re one of those bands that know when to change for the best. It keeps things fresh.
R�yksopp: The first album is a classic, and I really dig their second. Junior and Senior are okay, with specifics standing out, but their last album was good.
deadmau5: I really dig a lot of his work. Vexiology is crap, and 4×4=12 is okay, but I like every other album. while(1<2) felt like a film score at points.
Justice: Rather fantastic, heavy hitting band. I’m in the minority that liked the second album more. "We Are Your Friends" is a good introduction, also "On n On."
Kraftwerk: Fantastic pioneers in the world of music as a whole. Kraftwerk 2 is crap, Radioactivity is okay, but I love every other album.
Anything under the "Crydamoure" and "Roule" label: Great french house music right there.

POP:

Michael Jackson: Everyone knows who he is. Rather appreciate is lesser popular stuff, and think Bad is his best album (Thriller is somewhat overrated).
Awolnation: Really dig their two albums (the latter especially).
Capital Cities: Really like their one album. Can’t wait to hear more.

ONE HIT WONDERS (That I actually listened to past their hits):

a-ha (1984-2000): Take On Me may be iconic, but they’ve made so many songs that are so much better. Scoundrel Days is a pop masterpiece.
Eiffel 65: "Blue (Da Be Dee)" may be a song we love ironically, but I feel they became better afterwards.
O-Zone: Remember that Numa Numa song? Well I’ve listened to their other songs, and they’re all as equally catchy.

VIDEO GAME FRANCHISES:

Sonic the Hedgehog: What can I say, this is a great series for music. Sonic CD (both JPN & USA) is the best.
Super Smash Bros.: This choice is probably a cheat, but there are so many great tunes to pick from.

BANDS I NEED TO PUT MORE THOUGHT IN:

a-ha (1993, 2002-present): I love "Minor Key Sonata," but I haven’t got to the rest yet.
Bastille: Like a lot of their songs, but I need to listen to more.
Gorillaz: Like "Demon Days," but I need to listen to more.
Aphex Twin: Man’s career is too crazy to comprehend, but I really like his first album and some other stuff.
Trentemoller: Love the first album, haven’t gotten to anything else.

There would be more to list, but it would be too much specifics. Consider this a generalization.

Absolutely. It’s a shame they haven’t officially released the US parts digitally, outside of some okay remixes on Generations (Cash Cash shouldn’t have done every. single. one. But the Crush 40 one was awesome.)
Feel free to structure your list however you want. Had I not been so careful, it would’ve been all over the place.

I’ve not heard most of those remixes, possibly only 1 or 2 of them.

From what I heard of The Rara Requiem, it was all right. Gruppen was very interesting; again, I did not listen to the whole composition.

But Rothko Chapel? I love it! So atmospheric, haunting, and… beautiful, if you will. It may describe the presence created when all religions are practiced in one holy chapel.

Listening to Rothko Chapel now.

Sounds like it should be in the next Alejandro G. I��rritu film.

I like Lana Del Rey, especially her "Born to Die" album, and Melanie Martinez: I love her voice and music videos.
Then I found out about Cecile Corbel through "Arrietty’s Song" and fell in love with her celtic music.
I also love New Age music, such as Secret Garden, my favourites "Song from a Secret Garden" and "Green Waves", and when I find it hard to sleep I listen to Deuter’s relaxing music…. there’s a lot more artists I love, but it’d take forever to list them all.
I recently found a group called Massive Attack and I love the dark atmosphere of their album "100th window" and the song "A Prayer for England"
