BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Michael G. is great!
Michael G. is great!
at BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!…shit
I really thought it was going to be Christopher Young since they’ve collaborated on a few movies together, so this was really a new twist in the story for me..
I mean, I really liked Giacchino’s work on the show "Lost" and the movie "Inside Out", so this will be "Strange" and exciting! 🙂
I hope he also gets to compose Spider-Man: Homecoming!
I’m kinda rooting for James Newton Howard or Thomas Newman for that movie, but yeah, not a bad choice either!
:this:
I woulda preferred Young, but I’m happy with this news.
Movie Compositions
Nothing unmemorable or vapid about the Man’s VGM…
Depending how busy he is.
That’s the problem when you go mainstream.
Everyone wants you.
And then you have to leave in the middle of a note and let someone else try to fix it.
Danny Elfman is famous for that.

Am I gonna have to start throwing Medal of Honor cues around? ‘Cause I will. I’ll do what must be done.
He doesn’t compose like that anymore.
He’s too commercial these days.
But the Star Trek films are great. Jupiter Ascending was phenomenal.
Those are more inline with his current work.
Still, I’m sitting here, curious, as to what hopefully-wonderful work he may bring with Rogue One.
Both the film and the score.
Both the film and the score.
For Someone Who Spends A Lot of Time In Film Score Section, With A Lot Of Film Score Fans.
You Do Not Seem To Like Many Scores or The Composer’s Who Scored Them….
Or The Films…
50% of them are trash and 40% of them are pointless trash. 10% of them are pretty good though.
But I do love film scores. The good ones, at least. Maybe even a few of the not-so-good ones.
Michael Giacchino is the hot shit right now in Hollywood. He’s neo-John Williams in terms of repute among studio bigwigs and I can’t figure out why. He’s done some great stuff for Pixar but his other stuff is very mediocre. There was one good cue in all of Jurassic World (1m10 As the Jurassic World Turns). He somehow manages to be less interesting than Brian Tyler, and Tyler is one of the most uninteresting composers I can think of. I guess medicore is the new excellent in the film business.
Also, I think Giacchino has kind of a punchable face. So there’s that.
Just to satisfy you, George, one day I’ll listen to those Medal of Honor scores. I’ll probably like them.

Not with glasses, or facial hair and glasses!
He reminds me too much of Vince Vaughn without. :p
Also i think Michael looks like a big huggable Teddy Bear
