Alien: Out of the Shadows is a more intense listen than you might expect from an audiobook. Director Dirk Maggs peppers the narration with frantic sound effects and uses sound design to turn the narration into something more than just a straight read-through. "Working on such a famous franchise was a challenge, but an amazing one to have," said Hauer in a statement. "It was fascinating to focus on just how powerful the voice can be for such a unique, non-human character like Ash. In the art form I work in, creating compelling audio drama is the ultimate illusion."

Thank you! You children do realize that in the old days THIS is how drama, thrills & chills, came into your home? And you had to paint the pictures with your imagination. Great fun. My local public radio station aired a program called EAR PLAY (I think) over 30 years ago. These programs were dazzling. The story telling, the sound, the music… they cancelled it.

The highest available format for this audiobook is an .aax audible proprietary file, which varies between 32 to 128kbps (according to my quick google research). The original file has 124MB, and my encoded 64kbps file has 122MB. That leads me to the conclusion, that 64kbps is the correct source bitrate. Please correct me if I’m wrong, and tell me if I should attempt to encode it to higher bitrate maybe?

Im not a fan of a audio books, that said, i love standart books and i love how my imagination will add voices itself, but i must say that Hauer sold me in, i love his voice mainly because of Hitcher, with Lance Henriksen they have great charisma just with theyr voices alone, so i will listen to this, thank you…

The one for Alien3 is an audiobook of Alan Dean Foster’s novelization.
