Symphony for Glenn & Tommy (Joseph Kuhn) – 2 Early Stereo Recordings Remastered FLAC

The two albums offered in this download were among the very first stereo LPs released to the record buying public in 1958. Symphony for Glenn: A Symphonic Salute to Glenn Miller & Symphony for Tommy: A Symphonic Salute to Tommy Dorsey were both orchestrated by Joseph Kuhn (an American born composer [Manhattan Rhapsody], arranger and conductor who arranged & orchestrated many of the earliest 101 Strings albums), recorded in Germany with the Hamburg Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Heinrich Alster and released in the US on the independent Stereo-Fidelity label. Symphony for Tommy was also released on stereo tape by Bel Canto, which was the source of my digital archive for this download while the Glenn Miller Tribute was transferred to digital from a Stereo-Fidelity LP in reasonably good condition. The sound on both the tape and the LP were similar, with great stereo spread and separation but the highs were very harsh sounding. I have tried to minimize this harshness in the remastering process but some of it unavoidably remains. Still, despite the compromised sound, these two recordings are musically well worth a listen as the arrangements and instrumental playing are superb.
