EVIL UNDER THE SUN – 1982 Soundtrack Music by Cole Porter – DSD Remix/Remaster FLAC

EVIL UNDER THE SUN was the second of six big screen and television appearances by actor Peter Ustinov playing Agatha Christie’s Belgian Detective, Hercule Poirot. The story takes place on a resort island in a mythical country in the 1930s instead of the original novel’s English seaside setting. Rather than commissioning an original score it was decided to have the brilliant arranger-conductor, John Lanchbery, adapt the music of the most popular and wittiest song composer of the 1930s, COLE PORTER, as underscore and source music for the film.

At the time of its release in 1982, there was no soundtrack album from EVIL UNDER THE SUN. Instead RCA substituted a compilation of their own artists performing a selection of the Cole Porter tunes featured in the film. The actual soundtrack was finally released in 1994 by DRG Records. This download is from a 1990s DAT tape, the source of which was probably the same as the DRG soundtrack CD but in 3 channels which allowed me to do a completely new (and better sounding) mix of this wonderful album. I hope you agree.

These are wonderful arrangements…I always thought it was sad that many of the pieces end abruptly – I assume where the actual scene ended.
