It has been featured in the film (uncredited) THE HUNGER…. and this is the single most beautiful version I have heard. Curious new cover for this old CD. The music was so popular that it was meant ONLY to be performed at the Sistine Chapel (the Pope knew a hit when he heard one). Mozart screwed up that copyright. Just gorgeous.

Don’t know "the hunger " . Many Thanks for your comment Phideas1 ! Miserere with additional embellishments (#09) is always for me a source of wonder and delight even though I’m not the pope …And it was only performed once a year !!

The Hunger is Tony Scott’s first film. In the DVD commentary he admits it was an
indulgent production… and a complete failure at the box office. Most famous for the
lesbian/vampire sequence that, like the rest of the film, is visually stunning and opulent (someone gets special
mention in the credits for ‘curtains’).
Critics in the day said it was the longest Chanel commercial ever filmed. After taking a friend
to see it, she stated it was the most beautiful film she ever saw— and never wanted
to see it again.

It is rich with classical music.. Le Gibet by Ravel, the love duet from Lakme… and the Varese
soundtrack was piss poor in its offering. The Miserere was used in the attic sequence
when Catherine Deneuve’s past vampire lovers staged a come back. Odd movie, but very much
worth seeing for its sumptuous and eerie atmosphere.
