Just started JJ yesterday and I can’t say I’m all the impressed by the score (three episodes in and the show itself is already a bit of a bore). A few nods to clich??? city detective jazz, but for the most part it’s the usual droning ambient bullshit. There’s no driving menace, intrigue or sex-appeal.

Nearly Finished my Marvel Bing On AOU Now, hopefully Ant-Man next then done.

i’m listening to a few web rips of the end credits for Daredevil season 2, does anyone know if there will be an OST release for daredevil season 2? I loved the score, A few of the tracks were re-works of the original season score like a portion of the stairway fight, but thee were a lot of new cues, I loved the new elektra score, especially the one that plays at the end credits of episode 5, I think the full version to that track was played when they finished fighting in fogwells gym,

Old GD and new GD are literally the two most polar opposite forum cultures I have ever encountered in the same place in my life. It’s been absolutely bewildering to me ever since you lot took over, and my actions there over the past year or so have been this sort of perpetual reaction test to see can they really be this different? I keep thinking someone is going to bite, sooner or later, but it never happens. I can’t figure out what makes you guys tick. It keeps drawing me back in. Not in a pleasant way. It’s like that snuff film you can’t take your eyes off of even though you want to barf.

Dino: good, but not Pixar’s best.

Snake is the classic ronin/samurai character, right down to the eyepatch. Yagyū Jūbei Mitsubishi is one of Japan’s most famous samurais and wore an eyepatch. (Although whether that aspect of his character is historically accurate is debatable.) But that’s the image that has become fixed in the public’s mind.

i see crap versions of Star Wars Episode 7 going up.
Garbage encode settings. Great for previewing or if you’re impatient. But not for archiving.
Lossy audio only so far (being "1080p" has nothing to do with audio quality; same audio can be used on "720p" — video and audio are different), so anyone see a post going up for the end credits, it’s just the lossy audio source only.
Also, no IMAX aspect ratios in this.
Probably the 3D set will have it, or we’ll have to wait for another re-release, ala "Star Trek: The Compendium" duology set for Into Darkness with IMAX AR.

I first started listening to a portable tape player and CD player when I kind of young, then once my brother got an iPod Touch, I started using his MP3 player, then I began using an iPod Touch, than to an iPhone.

The content out there on the albums and FYC are sufficient enough to make a clean edit using Lilu’s rip if someone fancies an edit of the two.

"Taking Stalingrad" – Michael Giacchino – Call of Duty Official Soundtrack.

Haunting, threatening, sort of abrasive, is how I would describe this track.

It gives you an idea of the fear in the battle of Stalingrad, which took place August 23rd, 1942 – February 2nd, 1943.

In total agreement. The man’s music is fantastic! I love his synth’s in The Dark Knight Returns and his use of an orchestra for Superman. My favorite track is probably "Harvey": it screams Brad Fiedel’s The Terminator. Another favorite score: Under the Red Hood.

Someone needs to give Drake a motion picture to score.

I knew you’d like it! I’m glad it got such a reaction from you. It seems a bit underrated and has mixed views from people, but it’s definitely a nice movie that deserves to be in the Pixar catalogue of good films.

Hmmm…been awhile; so why not. I’m not a fan of the Remote Control aesthetic at all, but even I must admit that Drake out-Zimmered Zimmer with this entry.

To add: I always chuckle when I hear that snippet from Subdivision’s Farscape put through the rinse cycle in "Mark of Zorro".

A picture featuring complex human beings: no. Cockroaches wearing human skin suits awaiting Fate’s boot heel: yes.

First, I wouldn’t call DePalma or Stone artists, at least in regards to Scarface. Both failed in this the movie. Stone failed because he didn’t create interesting characters: everyone is venal, corrupt, brutal with no shading in their portrayals of their characters. They are all made of cardboard and cardboard doesn’t bleed.

Does make for good targets for bullets which everyone eventually becomes.

And I’ve generally found DePalma over rated as a director and he created a movie with zero nuance and fewer human beings.

So, for me, it failed my storytelling guidelines. But that’s me. You like it and that’s all that matters to you.

That’s how it goes with movies, books, music, etc . . .

there were a lot of issues with guns and knives at the school when i went there.
i had no idea until after i graduated.
there were even lots of bomb scares per year they kept from the public.

the back parking lots that were out of sigh, no witnesses, tight areas and too far away from main doors, were easy spots for anything to happen.
Apparently some kids would get mugged but they did everything they can to not spread it around? i never cared for those areas.

Literally, we’re up here with our long rifles constantly in-scope with a gate that, upon the pulling of a lever, will open sending our dinosaurs out to attack. This will be what it looks like:

I absolutely love Giacchino’s scores for Medal of Honor and Call of Duty (I’m trying to find a good quality version of Finest Hour), but I need to get more of his film scores… I only have Zootoopia and Jurassic World. :p

But the movie sucked. The Prince of Egypt is way better, and it’s more accurate. Moses is hit on the head by a rock and halucinates the burning bush and sees God as a 10-year old boy? The Nile turns to blood by alligators attacking each other? And the sea doesn’t even part, it just kinda gets shallow and then they cross it. And of course, the whitewashing. Worst Ridley Scott film I’ve seen.

Should have 63 albums when totally finished with the collection.

That’s not a bad card at all; a pretty good one, I think. I may have already told you, but I’m getting a GTX 950 2GB, very excited. From a 9600 GT (an overheated one, at least) to a GTX 950 will be like night and day.

You will really enjoy that.

Any little extra advantage will help a lot.

One of the most classical-like Giacchino compositions I’ve heard.

Something about this track gives me the chills… Especially around 1:35.

The track represents very well the brutality the Russians showed in the war (maybe the other way around, also?). A lot of tracks do, I think. The game and the music is much darker and more realistic than other World War II games.

Thats my favourite too. You see I have it hearted. You are right, it’s one of the only tracks that actually seems to signify the sheer brutality of the war.
I remember that track playing (0:16, specifically (https://youtu.be/LPGSW0xZ-0U?t=16s)) during the level Eviction, accompanied by the planes and tankes spewing explosions on the streets underneath a thunderstorm, skyscrapers falling down, and at the same time you are one man who has to fire at other people, ignoring everything else that is happening. One of the best scenes in the game, accompanied by one of the best songs.

It’s also my favourite game to date in the Call of Duty franchise. This particular game really, really captures the feel of World War II and what it was like. It doesn’t have any of that tacky futuristic sci-fi shit they have nowadays.

Do you have it on Steam? We should play it together some day.

I think part of it is the relationship that Reznov and Petrenko have that really makes you feel for the game. You stand with Reznov throughout the whole war, all the way he stands by you, cheers you on, helps you through the hell that the war is.

The American campaign wasn’t as strong but unique in its own way. It shows that there is no friends nor favours in the war, with your teammates, although still caring, not as much so as Reznov is.

As for the American campaign, it was unique in general (the music is also still awesome), but it was also the only Pacific campaign in the whole series, which I wish was not the case.

At least the Medal of Honor series covers the Pacific campaign of the war much more.

Those levels still remain my favourite in those games. They continued the story very well, just like they did with Price.

For Wes Craven and Scream, there was a scene where David Arquette and the sheriff were talking outside a mom and pop ice cream parlor and he instructed "Dewey" to take a hit of his ice cream every time the sheriff took a hit of his cigar.

This 2CD collection came out last year; and it includes every Ghibli song to date. I love it; I love Ghibli. Sadly I didn’t find any CD FLAC rip BUT I did find a 24bit HD download of the thing, it took me 6 hours but I finally have it. It’s not CD rip, doesn’t have scans, I can’t differenciate the 24-bit and it weights a bit more than usual, but at least I got the album in FLAC. 🙂 I’m happy with it!

Sorry, but in Cop 2 Axel, like Murphy, had "gone Hollywood." Lost the charm of the first one.

But if you like it, you like it. I’m the guy who loves Stallone’s Cobra, easily one of the worst, if entertainingly bad, 80’s action movies. So no judgment, just stating my opinion.

German is the language of Austria and also part of Switzerland.

Completely agree. But it will never happen.

Listening to The Revenant end credits.
The first cue is mixed with Leo’s breathing. A second cue blends in so sfx has to be kept for parts 1 & 2.
Director did the same thing for Birdman. Ambience of the city soundscape mixed in with the first part of the end credit music.
Center channel seems to echoe left/right for music. But front left/right have light wind sounds.

Part 3 to end_of_file are the best bet for msuic.
Part 1 is just a very short theme, part 2 is droney music with light hits.
Part 3 is the close to 6 minutes of music.

When I get some sleep, I can listen with headphones tomorrow to narrow down a lot to make the edits.
Could easily live with a stereo downmix. It’s not like an action movie made for Atmos or anything.

I’m doing a lot of work on the 5.1 mix to remove as many sound effects as I can… hope to have to show you all by the end of the weekend!

Reminds me of the nice experience I had while watching the movie in cinemas. It was my first (and so far only) experience with a Dolby Atmos movie. The only difference I found.. was a higher immersive surround AND loudness. Which I don’t mind. :erm:

Nevertheless, looking forward to revisit the movie very very soon.

I only heard a better surround, but no "sounds coming around" at all, which is what Atmos advertises so hard.

I’m not sure what "coming around" is supposed to sound like or mean.
I never like their advertising. Too much upselling nonsense. They’ll never say what it is except give useless annectdotes.

The fault would come in the mastering of the 7.1.
I imagine for a center speaker above your head, they would mix part of the back_left and back_center signals for some effects, and then switch to back_right and back_center for some other effects.

I also think, for theaters, it would rely heavily on you getting the center-most seats in the theater. Otherwise, like 3D video, you’ll get different results sitting on the side of the theater.

When you buy tickets, do they let you choose what seats you want?
For Odeon Cineplex theaters ("SilverCity"), they let you choose seats when you purchase tickets. They show what seats are not taken.
But I don’t know if they show what seats are "optimal" for Atmos. They should have different colors for prime "Atmos" seats.
There’s a science behind creating Atmos, why not let the audience in on it? Gimmick. That’s why.

Genysis was good. In my humble and bow-worthy opinion. Wasn’t quite like X-Men DOFP where everything got fixed.
It was an interesting take I had been wondering why it never happened before.

Terminator series plays with time travel like it’s so easy. There is literally a thousand things they can do. Half of them in one movie.
They could easily pull off something we see in an episode of Futurama or Family Guy when they time travel. :laugh:

The score for the first Medal of Honor game is as good as the score for Raiders of the Lost Ark. I don’t say this lightly. As I’ve heard each score all the way through more than 10 times (not counting all of the times I’ve played Lego Indiana Jones and Medal of Honor), I’m certain of it.

Therefore, for anyone who’s very fond of John Williams’ music, and / or the Indiana Jones scores, I highly recommend the score for Medal of Honor.

The only difference that there would have been, would be the fact that my favourite composer would have composed a score for one movie I was so anticipated for. Then again Michael’s score is not too bad, just doesn’t really stand out.

To be honest, 50 minutes in and I’m rather disappointed by the lack of a strong, identifying theme or motif, and the conventional approach to the action heroics. I was hoping for something more lighthearted, something more idiomatic, perhaps employing just a chamber ensemble accented by interesting percussion (a number of Philippe Sarde’s period scores come to mind).

So, 1hr 20mins later, the ear-tally for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (Complete): 5/10.

I thought there was something immensely familiar about AoU when I first watched it. I couldn’t shake the feeling.
For some reason it made me think of other hyper-sleep movies: Supernova, Event Horizon, Pandora, Pitch Black…
The hypersleep chambers threw me off.

I only played Halo 2. I don’t know if Cortana ever got hacked in the game franchise.
It would be nice if they released a movie-cut bluray of the games.

Halo animated movie (ala Arkham Knight) was really odd to keep up with. I don’t think I finished it.

H4:FUD doesn’t seem to require much knowledge of the game story arcs.
Probably references, but those are more like easter eggs.
The main story for FUD is very much a stand-alone. Which has its own little charms.
But you’ll be disappointed if you’re looking for a lot of CG or any Master Chief. It’s mostly about the kids from Narnia realizing they’re no longer in Kansas.
…actually, it’s a lot like Narnia. :laugh: Kids going to war. Except no chosen ones.

I might see Apocalypse only for Ottman’s score.

I’m giving this a try now. I saw "Arvo P???rt" and said "ooooooo", so we’ll see if I like it or not. I love Spiegel im Spiegel. It was used brilliantly in the trialers for Silent House and Gravity.

Yeah, Fratres (brothers in Latin) is one of my favorite compositions ever, also one of my favorite classical compositions. It’s so beautiful, just, damn!
A different variant of this piece was also used in The Place Beyond the Pines.

Aaron Parks really turns it into a great jam. :p

I love the first season. I’m surprisingly excited about rewatching it again. It was so good and just got better. I really, really hope S04 picks up and improves on the last half of S03.

Also, Iain De Caestecker (aka Fitz) looks so young!! He’s seriously grown up since the first season.

Apparently that’s just a song used for the teaser, not written specifically for the movie and won’t be featured in the soundtrack.
