Bluray rip? What ripped it?
Was it actual bluray or some random "1080p" encode you found?
The encodes out there now only have DTS-core audio (lossy 5.1 DTS).
Just ripping the bluray right now.

eac3to processing took 5 minutes, 52 seconds.
Done.
The good thing is that it’s a standard 7.1 channel setup (not "strange setup" or matrixed 6.1).
Making 7.1/24-bit FLAC now.
WAV looks to be 16-bit stereo downmix using Adobe.

TBH, it’s a useless 7.1 mix.
It barely does anything for 5.1.
Stereo is the best option here.
As you can see, it’s barely stereo.
Looks like mono just upscaled to 7.1.
Giacchino for the next two, in Dolby Atmos please.
I will not be doing a multichannel edit of this as Williams really dropped the ball on this one.
Or JJ.
Or both.
7.1 only good for the actual movie.
 Don’t bother. Williams sucks. It’s mono.
Go for Lilu’s up. It can’t get any better than this. Unless Japan releases a bluray with Atmos mix.

! Didn’t meant for it to sound insulting or anything Lilu.
Just vastly disappointed in the long-awaited bluray.
I received the remux now and I would like to give it a chance again ..
whats the best way to grab only the audio on it (DTS-HD 7.1 5194 Kbps) ?

I’ll PM a GUI for eac3to.
Most recorded music is made up of mono channels mixed down into stereo (or multi-channel where films are concerned). The orchestra is recorded live, so even individual mics on individual instruments will have similar wave forms to others in the same recording session. What you see above are the stems of summed multi-channel recordings, not a single mono track split arbitrarily.
What I mean is the music mixed for the end credits is poor. All tracks are identical.
There’s no mixing of any tracks in the surround sound. it’s just copied and volume changed.
I’ve edited a lot of end credits. I’ve an old, dedicated thread for it.
Newer movies, especially in 7.1, should have some sort of dynamic surround sound.
I know how music is recorded.
I’m just saying the mix for this particular release is useless.
John Wick end credits was acutally mixed to use 3 pairs of surround sound speakers, plus the center channel.
Just for the score. The commercial song by Marilyn Manson was only a stereo mix since that’s how it was recorded.
But Tyler Bate’s score was actually mixed to use all 7.1 speakers for anyone who had them, or a Dolby Atmos receiver.
This end credit mix is barely stereo.
Guardians of the Galaxy was a 7.1 bluray, but Tyler Bate’s score for the end credits was 5.1 at best. The back channels were just copied from the side channels.
Very different ballpack here.
I’ve checked several different places and played only in pairs of channels to listen for anything different.
Samples checked in front L+R sound identical to samples checked in the side L+R and back L+R.
Only difference was volume.
That’s what I was saying that this is crap and it can basically be downmixed to mono.

Argh. I’m not implying you don’t know how music is recorded, Spark. I have recorded, mixed, and mastered music, and sending copies of the L+R channels (usually the reverb send) is totally normal. The score is mixed in stereo from the start, and that’s generally what is delivered to the re-recording mixer fro final mixdown. 5.1, 6.1, 7.1 mixes of music recordings aren’t the norm. What’s displayed above isn’t lazy, or useless. It’s normal. All I’m saying.
u absolutely right. sadly I dont know how to rip with the "eac3to". same with the other stuff I downloaded from SourceForge. I tried and tried but holy …
I will make a simple wave rip with adobe audition again. just needs a day or 2.
Better would be when Spartank would make a rip .. currently I have to work on other stuff like adobe premiere & after effects. so I dont have the time for eac3to and that secrets 🙂

I am curious .. are u able to upload the different versions and give us a link .. that would be great
I just made some free space on computers and stuff so I can work on making a guide.
With pictures.
Regarding: OST, bluray, digital download, etc.
There’s really:
OST
FYC CD
Movie (bluray/dvd/digital/theater)
The FYC is more like the movie version than the OST.
A lot of people prefer the FYC version.
I’ll up the rip, starting from where Rey gets off the Falcon for Jedi Stairs and send it to you via PM.
Source: 5.1 bluray.
I used "eac3to" to generate an "AC3" audio file .. then I used "premiere CC 2015" to cut it .. u will find some sfx (wind) in the biginning but in my opinion its ok .. otherwise we would loose this part
https://mega.nz/#!XBkUwKJA!j2BPxxr4P2740S4zBF-jD_hlPUsWzFppoIKR5vHSr18
Spartank already sent me a new file (FLAC, 24bit, 7.1, 48kHz) .. I dont want to be in rush with this one .. it will take some time (will try and find better audio programs (studio one etc) to find the best way and solution
@Spartank
Thanks a lot for ur help .. very very appreciate
Audacity, Sony Sound Forge, Adobe Audition.
Agreed on the sfx not being a big issue. That’s currently what I have for personal collection.
I think it adds a lot more to the music as it’s a really huge part of the movie.
Happy editing. 🙂
The Film Version has a "Scherzo" segment between Rey’s theme and Kylo’s one. I’m not sure if in the Film Version the entire cue "March of the Resistance", but I assume it does.
