The same year, also on RCA Red Seal, came the first stereo recording of Deems Taylor’s delightful 1938 suite, “Through the Looking Glass”, based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice books, played by the Interlochen Youth Orchestra conducted by Joseph Maddy.
Both of these recordings have been out of print for nearly 50 years and have not seen legitimate reissue on CD. The source for this remaster was DSD archived original RCA Red Seal pressings from the 1960s which while not perfect, were fairly clean with their dynamic RCA Dynagroove “Living Stereo” sound now more permanently preserved in digital format.
