I was just about to download this, but then I realized the same exact whole file, no bit less, my dad has it when my friend bought the game for him on his PC.. so yeah. Thank you anyway for the share for those who haven’t. I just kinda hate that the album is in 24-bits // 48kHz. I mean.. it just makes the thing weight a lot more, and I don’t have much space as it is, and I can’t hear any difference between 24-bit or 48khz, so..

I don’t mind the higher bit-depth and sample-rate myself. The OST (and game) is glorious─I’d personally want it in its highest quality available, but I understand your view point. You can always resample it and shave off a lot. Might even add a d/l for that if the results are decent.

Yeah, I said it’s a nice share overall; although this album is nothing but a digital reissue of the soundtrack of the two games; a new thing, for audophiles, is that it has 24-bit and 48hz. For me it’s silly cuz I really find no use to it and I have no space, for the filesize, but nevermind it, it’s not the first soundtrack I keep in such high quality just for collection reasons! And yeah.. I might get your upload just because of the tags, really. I don’t feel like tagging myself..

But resampling.. isn’t that losing some sort of "lossless" quality? Is there no loss at all?

Lossless as in exactly the same as the source? Nah that’s impossible. It’s (near) transparent though.

Since 24-bits has a lot more sample points it needs to scale that down to a smaller range and pick the closest sample points it can in that range to the original. This might cause some cause small sample-stepping errors, but again, you will not notice this at all.
I’ve resampled it with SoX@high quality and comparing the two in Audacity, you’ll be hard-pressed to find any differences.

There’s a lot on this subject on the internet, e.g. this (http://www.head-fi.org/t/415361/24bit-vs-16bit-the-myth-exploded) is a good read on the 24-bit vs 16-bit matter.

Personally I don’t have the ear to catch the difference maybe, but it will lose the exclusivity of this release. It’s pretty much the same as the CD releases which are in 16bit, I guess the "new" of this would be the 24bit for audiophiles, maybe?

Yeah I think I’m gonna save some space and just have ’em both really. As in, come on, I already have Star Wars music in 192khz and stuff. They’re also useless to me because I can’t hear the difference but I keep them because of collection reasons.
