A lot of the usual Zimmer "crunch, crunch" sound he can’t seem to get out of. Sounds like Mad Max with Zimmer’s "angel voice" chiming in on occasion. A shame Zimmer’s Man of Steel theme never really gets to soar here. It’s fine for what it is. It is MUCH better than whatever the hell Amazing Spider-Man 2 was. I can say that for it.

There’s 2, maybe 3 good tracks, a few pleasant variants on MOS and a bunch of nice sounds which never amount anything, often teasing something cool before the cue suddenly and disappointingly fades/cuts… the rest, probably 85% of it is just run of the mill, generic filler. Junkie XL remains unremarkable and Zimmer disappoints.

I’m no Zimmer hater either, I love most of Zimmers work (old and new) and own much of his stuff on CD/Vinyl; and went to see him live in 2014.

This is just a bit meh..

Looking forward to Dunkirk & Inferno though.

I know what you mean. I also don’t like it. I don’t know why he didn’t pass it to someone else if he didn’t feel motivated. Such a shame! I love MoS and Batman scores.

I also feel the same way. It just feels so lacking. I just can’t get into it. The Batman Suite has bits of Superman’s theme in it as well, I thought that was odd too. I loved the Dark knight scores more and Man of Steel was great too but this? eh. Where is the Doomsday theme? no idea. I’ll keep listening to it and will see if it will grow on me.

As for the score, I feel strongly here that context is key. Listening to it now? Works for me. The Batman compositions especially. He is depicted as a nightmare (a big, hulking, violent nightmare) in BvS, and Junkie XL’s work truly reinforces that notion.

The first part of Men are still good is the ending of the movie. From 4:30, it’s the batman suite which I don’t think plays in the end credits but I could be wrong. I remember a theme from MOS playing during the credits.

Does anyone remember the End Credits Suite Tracks, I’m trying to create a new edit of the score.

I’m almost certain that this is the correct chronological order. The last half of “New Order” isn’t used in the film (and is just a repeat, it seems, of the end of “Vigilante.” Not sure what the reason was behind that.) “The Red Capes Are Coming” is a combination of at least two separate cues, but it’s more or less in film order so not a big deal. “They Were Hunters” also sounds a little different than what’s in the film. Other tracks are also mixed differently and are not the final film versions.

During the scene that Batman sees the photo of Wonder Woman at the computer, its the first time we hear Wonder Woman’s theme. But its played only with the drums, missing the eletric guitar. Is this version of the song available anywhere?

There’s also a really powerful version of the Man Of Steel theme in BvS which I don’t believe is on the album, I can’t recall where it is in the film, just that I really liked it.

I guess we have to remember (myself included, in respect to my prior post..) is that this music is made for the purpose of framing a movie; not primarily as an album. And the music is very fitting in the movie.

However, I think many composers (and the production companies etc.) really need to do a better job of making soundtrack releases more representative of the music as it is in the movie. RCP in particular..

Hans Zimmer has already composed the "theme" scores for the remaining Justice League members, including cyborg, Flash and Aquaman. Its was part of his contract. So we can defenetly expect some congruency among the scores, and I think this is a good thing! All the movies will have the same feeling. And it should be this way till when its rebooted eventually

Unless its part of his contract, Hans Zimmer won’t compose WW. He recently announced his retirement from scoring superhero films. On one hand I am sad as he did some amazing scores for some of my favorite superhero films. I haven’t seen BvS yet, but liked the music I heard off the album. On the other hand, I’m happy he retired on what I believe to be his own terms. He’s a magnificent composer, deserving to do what he pleases.

With Hans on tour for the next two months and the fact that Doctor Strange is due out later this year, he would’ve already had to start working on it. Given that he would get back around what, June, July? The film is due in November. Haven’t seen him do one of those ‘last minute’ projects in a while, not to mention there’s yet to be an officially announced composer so I’m willing to bet he’s not; and honestly it’d be amazing if young does it, the poor guy needs to get back out there again lol It seems like a fitting project for him to do, actually

Anyhow, there is new music but not much. From what I can recall – mostly extended bits of existing cues, the real new addition was a new motif used for the investigation parts in the middle, particularly the build up to that Senate scene.

I think WB thought people wouldn’t care about the plot moving along and went for the fight and the action only, which was wrong. That and the stupid MPAA.

The MPAA had nothing to do with the decision. The film was cut down because WB thought people wouldn’t want to see a three-hour film in a smelly, sticky theater.

I don’t think the MPAA had much to do with it because, well, every other country apart from the US that has rated it, have rated the new cut the same as the theatrical. The big issue seemed to be runtime. one factor that was the reason for a similar thing happening with Snyder’s Watchmen is IMAX – 70mm platters can’t hold over 2h45 of film. That and, especially in BvS case….less showtimes, people being put off by the fact that it’s 3 hours, etc etc. Everything it tries to fit in – the main story, the JL set up, all the characters, it all called for 3 hours, and thankfully this cut does it all justice.

Ehhmmm… The tracks "A Beautiful Lie" and "Their War Here" aren’t mixed together in the movie. They’re definitely separated. And as far as I remember, "Their War Here" is the Movie Version, like "A Beautiful Lie" (except for the Batman intro).

I ripped them all again. From what it looks like, Kawczynski did a lot of scenes that accompanied one another? In order (I think) you have The Desert (the "Omega" desert), Post Apocalypse (the Darkseid Parademons), Underground Torture (probably Superman using his heat vision on Bats) ? – "The Desert" is the scene in the beginning where Supes saves Lois and where Lex’s mercenaries kill all the people. It should be the second part of "Blood of My Blood".
– "Post-Apocalypse" is the nightmare of the ‘Omega’ desert and the Darkseid Parademons. It’s the extended first part of "Must There Be a Superman?".
– "Thug Fight" is the Martha rescue scene by Batman. It’s "Fight Night".
– "Underground Torture" should be the first scene where Batfleck appears. It should be the second half of "New Rules" or the second part of "Vigilante".
– "Wreckage" is where Bruce resques the girl in the Metropolis opening scene and later looks up in rage at Supes fighting Zod. It’s just after "Their War Here".
