(1981) JOHN WILLIAMS – Raiders of the Lost Ark 1981 release w/ pitch correction FLAC

Continuing my Raiders spree, here’s my other favorite pet project. As much as I adore the 1995 DCC release, I still thinks the original 1981 release of Raiders is still the best sounding version ever. Just compare tracks like "Flight From Peru" and "The Map Room: Dawn" and you’ll see what I mean: much more detailed, nowhere near as processed and compressed as the 2008 release. However, the measured dynamic range is not one of the best and it has one BIG caveat, though: the pitch is wrong (even in the vinyl and cassete tape). I mean, very wrong! Slow like a three legged mule. That needed an urgent fix. Comes Adobe Audition to give aid. Using a much improved algorithm, not only was it possible the fix this problem, but also, totally unbeknownst to me, it improved the measured dynamic of every track. Some tracks were much improved, others not so much. Here’s the tracklist and how the pitch of each track was adjusted. I tried my best to match what is heard on the 1995 DCC release, which was said at the JWFAN forum that matches the film perfectly, but I’m no expert at this. Anyway, hope you enjoy it! 🙂
