Ladies and Gentlemen, young and old, this may seem an unusual procedure speaking to you before we begin but…

April 28, 2016, which is two months from now, shall mark the twenty-year anniversary of Genndy Tartakovsky’s first hit television show for Cartoon Network (and his only show that he created for Hanna Barbera) about the classic misadventures of a loud, screeching little redheaded kid in a laboratory scientist’s outfit and his stupid bean pole blonde headed older sister clad in a ballerina’s tutu outfit.

The show in question is called Dexter’s Laboratory.

Although the first Dexter’s Lab short already aired a year earlier in February 1995, April 28, 1996 was the day that Dexter’s Lab become a regular show on Cartoon Network.

And now, let us share memories, thoughts and especially your own honest and personal opinions on the show Dexter’s Laboratory just to coincide with the 20th anniversary.

Anyone remember Dexter’s Laboratory?

It was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I think it got me interested in designing stuff, like how dexter seeminly built an entire lab from stuff lying around.
I look at it now and some eps creep me out. like that one ep of dexter acting like a girl, dressing up, even kissing an animal with lipstick. Gennedy had some weird humor.. Did you like samurai jack? What’s going on with the new series?

Oh dear. I was with Cartoon Network from their very humble beginnings. All they showed was old Hanna-Barbera cartoons back then.

Dexter’s Lab was one of the "World Premier Toons" events they showed on a weekly basis, the best of which were greenlighted by the network. We were unwitting tests for pilots, which included an early effort by Seth MacFarlane.

Seeing Cow and Chicken, Johnny Bravo, PowerPuff Girls and Dexter’s Lab grow from this was pretty awesome, but damn, I feel old now. 🙁 I was about 9 when these were shown.
