Note: this isn’t a deluxe edition I had initially planned on but seeing a clip of the film at a friend’s house over the weekend has inspired me to do this.

I had never heard of Joe Kraemer before this score and I never particularly enjoyed the other scores in the franchise so I let this one slip me by, until now.

Using both the 55 (minus the repeat cue) track and 31 track FYC versions, I combined the two sources to form this deluxe edition. The 31 track FYC version had some woodblock overlays, one whole section of a cue and an alternate of one of the finale cues that were missing in the 55 track version which I have restored in this edition.

As far as editorial goes, I raised the volume and combined cues, using the 31 track FYC as reference as well as taking my own liberties to further improve the flow. This came from a very low quality source as we all know so I didn’t want to do too much to avoid further destroying the sound. It would benefit from a true lossless upgrade but for what it is, it’s quite listenable.

This is a surprise of an action score in that it not only uses Lalo Schifrin’s original themes but also the new material is quite fun. A great throwback score. I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on Mr. Kraemer’s work.

Surprisingly, I really really loved this score, it’s got action and lots of cues that have all I like in a movie score, it’s kinda symphonic with action.

Does anyone know if there’s a FYC physically, sent by Paramount, and if it’s lossy sourced?

Made some changes: tracks 1-3 have been mixed into 1 track after much deliberation and tracks 18-19 have also been combined. New links in OP under original link.

The second track titled Logos has been removed too as it is basically the same cue featured in Dungeon Fight minus some woodblock sounds in the opening.

This will be the last edit I do until lossless sources come around as the rest sounds fine enough to me to not warrant any additional edits to be made.

I’m up to my fifth listening in two days and I’m surprised how much I love this score.

Update: one last edit. I included the finale from the album to close out this album. All 3 updated tracks have been re-packed. New link in OP.

Thank you so much, one of my favorite score of 2015.

I first heard Kraemer’s work 15 years ago in Christopher McQuarrie’s own Way Of The Gun. Since then he has been doing mostly TV work with a few small movies along the way. Sad that he is only just getting more recognition, however his score for MI5 is certainly the best in the series (and his career) so far. I really love how he works in the main theme in his intro, and "Meet The IMF" is one of my favourite tracks of the year.

I listened to it from beginning to end and it could’ve been purely wrong for the mood but it never quite picked up for me.

I really love this score and have listened to it more than any of the previous.
