Also known as “Friend of Good Children” or “Pre-School Guy”, Yoiko no Mikata was a 9-episode TV dram-com from 2003 about a young man who enters the female-only profession of nursery-school teacher and not only proves himself capable to administrators and wary parents, but becomes best friends with the tots as well. Oshima’s sunny score starts out with a peppy march and includes a wistful waltz for strings, a brassy fanfare, a gymnopedie for solo harp, and a little Gershwin too.
