My name is different because years ago the forum got hacked and I made this to post while my other account was compromised. I was already in the habit of using it by the time it was fixed so it stayed. :shrug:

Most of the names are different because almost everyone is gone. I’ve been trying to breathe some life into the place, but it isn’t easy. You wouldn’t believe how pissy some folks around here can get when you make a joke.

But also, it really fell apart a few years after you stopped posting when forum drama divided everybody and everybody left. Once most of the regulars gone the soundtrack downloading people seeped in and took over.

I mean, I guess I shouldn’t expect much being that I’m pretty sure 10 years have passed since I’ve actually been here.

Grattitude does not exsist anymore, alot of people also can not simpley post a thank you, they have to find something wrong with everyone’s uploads.

I’d like it if you didn’t include the whole forum on that group of people you’re talking about. I respectfully thank wholeheartedly every single uploader who uploads something great that I’m interested out of kindness. "Everyone" means the whole forum, and I’m part of it. People also complain of monified shares with a good reason; because they’re done with no intention of real kindness but to win back money, so people have good reasons to be pissed about ’em.

Let me repeat my statement:

BOTH opinion and fact are valid in this case.

Fact:

SOME people always like to complain about the format, bitrate, etc, OR they like to find some sort of problem with the upload.
Gratitude and thankfulness DOES still exist and ALWAYS will.

Opinion:

Really, they should not complain, and look elsewhere for their own preferences to be suited.

Therefore, its very much possible that any of our opinions may be fact.
An opinion is a preferred way of thinking, interests, and wanting things to go a certain way.

Personally (and I do stress personally), I’m both saddened and disappointed to hear users have left mostly because of the whole Download-business going on "in" the forum, I’ve been on other communities which later added download-areas and the so called groups of actual users and pirates co-existed peacefully, I’ve reasons to believe that could have happened here, too, if folks put a bit of effort into it.

I joined in May 2011 to get one thing from the VGM downloads, I recall, and then returned in early 2013 and have been active here ever since.

Here’s the thing: there are sections/areas of the forum where you can discuss Film/TV, Anime and Video Game Soundtracks, feel free to go there and create topics (EDIT: Anime, Film and Video Game Music Discussion (http://forums.ffshrine.org/forumdisplay.php?f=63)). Download Links should actually be mostly about download links and discussions related to those.

Don’t worry about that. In my estimation that was more of an effect than a cause. A lot of people started leaving around (I think) 2010 or so after forum drama and real life starting pulling everyone in different directions.

I’m sure it was an influence for some people. As is usually the case I think it was a convergence of many factors. I definitely don’t think it was the main/only reason.

Oh, since then, I found a way to add grain to the video and boost gamma then apply ascii art then return gamma back to normal which would give different results.

More like "rain" results like the "matrix rain" effect.
Only real problem is no one made a font with backwards Kanji characters and the other set they use.
It’s limited to just one of the 3 sets of fonts the mixed together for their custom font.
Until someone goes through and takes the time to create font with all the involved characters.
Kanji-wide or something? i don’t remember.

There’s just the poster fonts out there for The Matrix that’s used in the special features and video game posters.
and i don’t want to use Courier New either.

But WIndows solution is limited.
What I did was some avisynth scripting.

I’ve not watched the version that one guy did. It feels like a waste of bandwidth when it was all transcodes.
It’s like using mp3 to remaster.

With bluray source, and avisynth, you’re not transcoding. So the loss is only second generation.
Since: Studio master -> Bluray (one generation loss) -> conversion with ascii art (two generation loss).

What that guy did:
studio master -> DVD (one gen) -> jpg (two gen) -> m2v (raw mpeg2) (three gen loss) -> DVD again (four gen loss)

The sample on youtube is probably…
Fourth generation loss -> AVI (xvid or divx) -> youtube (which converts everything so FIFTH generation loss)
