i think its the only theme that i wont include in my bond playlist.
:this:
I HOPE it doesn’t win just because. Skyfall deserved the Oscar. This doesn’t
I believe he comes from the UK, from Britain’s Got Talent, or the Voice, can’t remember which. He comes from a talent show, basically.
In my humble opinion I have hopes he doesn’t win, PLEASE, the song’s really not good. Skyfall DID deserve the Oscar, this doesn’t.
I guess it’s more today’s generation of pop culture.
I don’t mind the song. But I wouldn’t nominate it.

I watched the dvdscreener of the movie but going to wait for the blurya to give it a real listen with the film.
I can’t even remember the titles at all, I was too busy trying to fix "the quality adjustments" they scene release did to the movie.
The Oscars are an egocentric remnant of an age when the opinion of dickless, untalented people mattered. It’s just dragging a corpse for some more years.
Then It changed, and now It is something weird and strange.
And it’ll happen to you!

No way, man! We are going to be rocking forever…
…forever…forever.
"Same old, same old."

I contest the position that "Writing on the Wall" is the worst Bond theme of all time. Have we forgotten "Another Way to Die"? It’s a bewildering plummet in quality, sandwiched between two of the best theme songs I have ever heard in a film’s opening credits.
It doesn’t help the song they rejected is supposedly better. I want to listen to it in comparison.
EDIT: It’s actually two they rejected. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zg2dXY9TOKA and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCX4SxhpPwE . As you can probably tell, these were better received.
Really? Strange that I’ve not seen this either on his Wiki page or anywhere else..
He did perform on the X-Factor finale as a guest performer.
When it comes to whether "Writings on.." is the worst song or not, I’d say that "Die Another Day" by Madonna is considerably worse as it’s just bland electronic music with lyrics that even DMX or Ja Rule could write better.
Here is a snippet of "Die..":
"I’m gonna wake up, yes and no
I’m gonna kiss some part of
I’m gonna keep this secret
I’m gonna close my body now"
"Sigmund Freud
Analyze this
Analyze this
Analyze this"
"I’m gonna avoid the cliche
I’m gonna suspend my senses
I’m gonna delay my pleasure
I’m gonna close my body now"
In other words, just your average Madonna song.
I’ll admit that I don’t like most of Sam Smith’s songs – when he sings in the upper vocal range he sometimes sounds like his voice is being choked and that’s when I cringe.
Having said that there are exceptions to his work where I really enjoy his voice. Songs where he is teaming up with Disclosure(with tracks like "Omen" or "Latch") are very good, and I have to admit that "Writings" have grown on me the more I listen to it.
I prefer the instrumental version.
I find his singing very annoying, actually
For me, really awful.

I still find it preferable to a lot of current pop music. At least it’s some effort, even if it’s not the best.

Die Another Day was not worse than Another Way to Die
Die Another Day is surprisingly the only James Bomd movie I’ve really watched. At least before I saw Skyfall and Spectre.
That’s a weird way to start the franchise, especially with it’s excessive references to all the films that came before it. Also, were you very confused when watching Spectre? I’d imagine a casual being very lost, as one would need to watch all the Daniel Craig films to even get the basics of the plot, not to mention any references to films before those.
Well, I was fairly young when I saw Die Another Day, and I don’t believe I’ve seen Casino Royale out of the Daniel Craig films, but I’ve seen every other.
I was only 2 when D.A.D (I’m amazed that’s the acronym) was released, then 6 when C.R came out. It’s amazing how time flies.
You are the exact age as I. :p
DAD has all those references because it was an anniversary movie. when bond 40 hits it will also feature a bullet in the barrel sequence and references to DAD and subsequent movies. or in the 100 year anniversary. which ever comes first (though i assume bond 40 will be released in the 100 anniversary)
I’m aware its the anniversary in terms of the Bond movies at the point. I’m just saying its a pretty bad place to starting watching the films.

Also, I really dislike how mean spirited and cynical this thread started out. Just calm down, okay? Oscars aren’t everything.
