Hello everyone,

I have two questions about the Complete LOTR recordings.

1. Is the Advanced Resolution audio worth the space? I have 5.1 448KBPS versions which would ‘blow me away’, but just heard LOTR2 live which was ten times more detailed than those files.
2. Has anyone ever compiled a list of OST tracks that are not included on the recordings? By not included, I mean: alternates, different mixes or just missing.

1) Not really… honestly if someone were to tell me the 5.1 was upconverted from stereo, I would believe him.

2) Faleel did very comprehensive breakdowns of three films; he mentions all the differences between the CRs, OSTs, and film versions:
FotR (http://www.jwfan.com/forums/?app=forums&module=forums&controller=topic&id=23818), TTT (http://www.jwfan.com/forums/?app=forums&module=forums&controller=topic&id=24668), RotK (http://www.jwfan.com/forums/?app=forums&module=forums&controller=topic&id=24980)

Thank you VERY much! Honestly, those 5.1 presentations could have been so much better!

Definitely… if they were going to do 5.1 presentations, they should have just copied and pasted the music stems for each film instead of doing such a lackluster job. That would have had the added bonus of the CD and DVD having different content as well.

But, here’s hoping to a smarter mixing job for The Hobbit Complete Recordings. If/when they’re released.

Agreed! In concert, the choir sounded so much more epic!!!
