See spoiler for a brief history on this album, info about how it was made (How were they taken straight from the DVDs?), information about the FLAC rip, and the original release notes.
This was a very interesting project for me, and it all started with me saying, "I can do better than that," and asking myself how. This album was originally made using mp3’s ripped from YouTube videos using various methods, and the quality just wasn’t listenable for me. Then, I headed here, the forums, in search of something better. Every now and then I would stumble across one of the songs, but they would never sound any better than the songs I had already ripped. That’s when it hit me, this idea, and I thought, "I have all these movies on DVD, so how can I take the songs from them myself?" and I set out to find answers. Then, with a little work and the help of my friends (Lol Pokmon always brings people together), I made this album. After talk from many of my friends I have decided to leave this awesome 20th anniversary Pokmon album here; in hopes of bettering everyone’s listening experience with these songs. So, with that little background out of the way, here are how all the songs (that were not on an official soundtrack already, those were taken from 320’s of those albums) were created: First, I ripped the full ac3 (original 5.1 surround (origin) audio format for DVD’s, for those who didn’t know) from the DVD, converted that file to a much more listenable wav file, which I then cut each song out of using a program called wav splitter. Then, I used a wav joiner to add a 4 second silence wav file to the end of the song. Next, I imported all the wav files into iTunes (*gasp* I know, I actually like iTunes. Whatever. :P), and converted those into 320kbps mp3s, and tagged those from there. After that, I used mp3 gain to level the volume of all the songs (dang, some of them were SUPER quiet) to the highest volume allowed without the songs clipping. The result is a 320kbps, very cohesive, and almost professional album that is very balanced and enjoyable to listen to.
FLAC Info: Not much to say here, other than full lossless. I took the original Wav files I used to make the mp3s, converted them to FLAC, and obtained FLAC rips of the songs from the offical albums (Again, thanks AcidBeast and R3v3rs3!). To volume adjust the FLAC files, I looked at the original data from the mp3s in mp3gain (it tells you how much the volume was changed), imported all of the tracks into Audacity, applied that same amount of gain by hand (ensuring no clipping or distortion), exported as wav, converted them all to FLAC, and tagged!
Original Release Notes:
Please keep in mind that this was meant to be an anniversary album including many of the best tracks from the movies and not simply an archive of every song from the movies/movie ost’s. I tried to include all of the best tracks and ones from pivotal moments in the movies (Ex. "Oracin" from The Rise of Darkrai, or "The Legend Awakens" from 2000). Many of you will notice the omission of certain songs like "Living in the Shadows" from The Rise of Darkrai, and those of you who have heard that will know exactly why I didn’t put it on this album (it’s horrible. Lol)… Other songs like "Catch Me if You Can" were omitted purely because I didn’t want the album to be too overrun with a bunch of songs from the first two movies (because they had the most songs).
PLEASE READ: v.2.0 Notes (4/17/16):
Any new tracks are clearly marked, as well as any tracks with improved quality 😛
All tracks from official albums were verified, using Spek, to make sure they were 320k (I realized some on the original album were not), and all of these albums were re-downloaded in FLAC and copied to the album in a different way than they were on the original album. Some will notice the quality difference, some won’t, but it is there. For a full list of these songs, open the spoiler tab below.

Any songs marked with a "*" after their name were given a fadeout and a cleaner silent section after the fade, even if the song already had a clean fade, and even if the fade is a bit…abrupt ("Together We Make a Promise" and "We Will Be Heroes", I’m looking at you. Sorry about those). I took the original wav’s and edited them using Audacity, exported them as wav files, and then converted to mp3 and volume-adjusted and such. I can assure that there is no quality loss. I also tried to make the fadeouts as least-destructive as I could, as I didn’t want to alter the songs any more than what was required.
"Title Theme" from Jirachi: The Wish Maker was removed to make room for the two new Jirachi movie tracks, and because it was a really redundant song to include.
"Make a Wish" was re-ripped from the original DVD, so it sounds a million times better than on the original album
I attempted to rip "This Side of Paradise" from a different copy of the original DVD (in hopes it would work), but I had the same issues as with my copy. I then bought the 2011 reprint, and it didn’t sound any better than the original rip I had, so I was unable to get that song in a higher quality. Sorry about that, but it still sounds great!
"Medley from "Temple of the Sea"" was made by me using flac files and Audacity, then converting to wav and then mp3 as mentioned above. And, once again, I can assure there is no quality loss.
Now, with all that said, please 🙂 ENJOY THE ALBUM! 🙂
PLEASE READ: UPDATE 12/23/17:"I hate to say it, but I think the end of Ten For Twenty Years has finally come.. No more updates (I don’t think I’ll even add these official versions), no more rips, I think I can finally call it a complete work. "
There’s a new album out now, the first official compilation album since Pokmon X: Ten Years of Pokmon, actually IIRC, (you can find it here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/st…9?i=1327128537 that features the intro and ending songs from the Diancie movie up through I Choose You. I was considering ripping and adding I Choose You’s music as the last update to this album, but now I don’t think that’ll be necessary. It’s been a great ride, and I just want to say thanks to all of those who supported me throughout the work on this project and who gave feedback. I hope many more people will come to find this album and enjoy it as I know many of you already have. What started out as a simple project really bloomed into something more, and I feel so blessed to have something that I worked on become known and loved by many more people than I ever would’ve expected. Thanks for everything!
-KirbyHammer7
Even with the above, I will still be available, so please do not hesitate to PM me or leave a comment with opinions, thoughts, or questions! I am more than happy to help! (And PLEASE let me know if, for whatever reason, the link is down)
Not sure if you’d be up for this kind of project, but would you be willing to do the same thing with the TV Opening themes as well? Obviously wouldn’t need ones from older seasons (Battle Frontier and back), but I’ve been looking for high quality DVD ripped songs from Black and White up until now. Feel free to decline this request, but just thought I’d ask to see if you have the means and time do so.
@Arigeitsu159 Time and willingness isn’t an issue, but I just do not have any of the DVD’s for those songs. I would either have to rent or buy all the discs, and that would be a bit much. Sorry about that, but I am glad you are enjoying this album!
Nah, it’s all good. I used to rent the DVDs via Netflix to be able to rip the TV themes, but with everything being streamed these days, DVDs aren’t readily available for rental anymore. Just thought I’d ask to see if you had the means though. 🙂

"It will be released on DVD format in the United States sometime on March 8, 2016."
Expect it 1-4 months after that, depending on how easy it will be for me to either buy or borrow the disc.

I still have all the programs, data, etc. that I used to rip the original songs, so pretty much the moment I get the DVD it will be ripped and match the rest of the album.
The ending theme sounds pretty cool. I like it.
Even if the disc did come out before the 8th, Feb. 29th through March 10th is seriously going to be one of the busiest times of the year for me. It is just one song though, so I could probably squeeze it in at some point if I needed to. It all depends on how I decide to get the disc (Buy in-store, buy online, rent from someplace, borrow from friend, etc.).
But it will be here eventually, and hopefully not too long after the release.

What program do you use to rip songs from the DVD? I’ve been using IMTOO DVD Audio Ripper, but it’s a pretty old version. Your process seems a lot more complicated than what I’ve done in the past, but still interested in what program you use.
But for converting to wav, cutting, joining (silence files at the end), and volume adjustment I use a bunch of old (Like pre 2007 lol) freeware programs (because a wav is lossless, no matter the conversion system). And, as I spoke of above, I convert the wav files using iTunes.
Many people who rip songs from DVDs cut, convert, and edit using the same system (I.e. Rip DVD directly to 320), but I like editing the lossless files then converting. I will usually rip about, depending on the song, 10 minutes around where the song is, and then fine (millisecond) cut the wav file from there; that way I can ensure the cut is accurate.
Might not be the quickest way, but dang does it sound good.
First, I have added the poll you probably already saw, so please take a minute and answer that. Depending on the results, that song will be added to the album.
ALSO, "Make a Wish" and potentially "This Side of Paradise" will (most likely, unless something goes wrong) get even HIGHER quality rips in the near future! I had to take both of those songs from the Miramax double-sided DVD with four movies on it (so basically, compression). "Make a Wish" was taken from that because I did not have the original DVD, and "This Side of Paradise" was taken from it because my copy of Destiny Deoxys refused to rip/play in my PC. I have talked to one of my friends and he says he can get both of the original DVD’s for me, so, sometime fairly soon, we will have a better sounding copy of those songs (even though they sound great already IMHO). So yeah, just figured I would let everybody know that those are most likely on the way! Thanks again for your patience (with the Hoopa movie song) and support, enjoy!
Huh, thanks. As much as I would dislike to, I may just make a second thread once the album is updated (so I could have a thread without the poll).
ALSO: Hoopa movie has gone down in price so I will likely be placing a pre-order soon!
TfTY V.1.5 will be released very soon, so expect lots of great new things!
I have currently…
Pre-ordered the Hoopa movie
Been waiting for the Jirachi and Deoxys movies
Got/will be getting higher quality Movie 3 songs
Added a new song to the Movie 4 section.
Been thinking about other things to add.
Also, happy early Pokemon Day to everyone, and here’s to an epic Pokemon Direct this Friday!
Thanks for the support, enjoy what’s here now, and stay tuned for the update! I’ll let you guys know every time I complete something new (Ex. Get the Hoopa movie).
I hope in a future the Blu-ray Disc for this movie will be released to catch the lossless version.
I hope in a future the Blu-ray Disc for this movie will be released to catch the lossless version.
Thanks! Sure thing, that’s what this thread is all about! Yeah, the one from the DVD doesn’t sound fantastic, but it sounds much better ripped from the DVD than the crappy "rips" people post on YouTube.
Sadly, I don’t think we’ll get a dubbed version of that movie anytime soon. I guess I do still have the wav’s of the songs I ripped from the DVD’s, but uploading those would be really inconvenient for everyone. 😛

Funny you bring that song up, as I actually mentioned how I purposely skipped that song in the description of the album in the thread:
"Many of you will notice the omission of certain songs like "Living in the Shadows" from The Rise of Darkrai, and those of you who have heard that will know exactly why I didn’t put it on this album (it’s horrible. Lol)…"
Of course, if you really want it ripped from the DVD I can do that and make a sort of Darkrai Movie Mini-Album and send that to you, but I absolutely refuse to put that on the main album. IMHO, I know some people probably like it a lot, it’s horrible, and, considering how The Rise of Darkrai had one of the strongest song lineups of any newer Pokemon movie, I didn’t want to end it’s segment on a sour note.
But, yes, if you would like that song ripped from the DVD I can do that for you, or you may be able to request it here: Thread 59963 and someone may have a copy of the full thing. I could also find an mp3, or you could rip one from the YouTube videos, but whatever you want.
Just let me know though, I’m more than willing to help.

Funny thing you should mentioned that, i’d already ripped that song from the youtube video, I just want to ask if i can put it in the album? Can I? Also, are you going to use the viz rereleases of movies 1-3 for rips of music, or the original dvd released by warner bros. (viz releases do not have the pikachu shorts in them)?
Most likely kirbyhammer will rip the music directly himself. Ripped songs from youtube videos are horribly compressed and strip out a lot of quality. So if kirby rips it, it’ll be a direct rip from the DVD.
I highly doubt kirby may do a rip from the first 3 movies considering most songs already have CD releases unless he plans on including score music in the release.
If you want to post a link separate from the album of that individual song, be my guest, if you want to edit your download of this album using iTunes or whatever you could add that song yourself easy enough, or you could make a playlist containing that song, or whatever else you want; I just won’t be adding it to the album itself. If it’s the volume adjustment (you want it to match the album for your purposes) give me a link and I’m fine doing that, and I’ll even rip the short one from the disc if you like, I just won’t add it to this download of the album. Feel free to add it to your own though!
Also, everything from the first 3 movies, with the exception of the "Ending Medley" from the First Movie (The original release DVD), is taken straight from the official CD’s containing the songs, to make the quality is as good as it can be, so no worries there.

Oh, thanks for covering me, Arigetsu, I saw your post right before I posted my message. Thanks!
Maybe I’m reading it wrong, is he saying he wants me to rip it for him? I’ll gladly do that, just not add it to the album.

Also, TfTY V1.5 is well on the way! Just a few more finishing touches that hopefully won’t take too terribly long, and then we’ll have the final (?), complete 20th anniversary album I dreamed of making. Another note on that, I have upped the quality of every song that was from an official CD, as I realized many were not actual 320 or were taken from bad sources, so be ready to be floored by those songs once again. I also have a few little surprises in store, for which I used my newfound editing skills to make… But you’ll see those when the album is released. 😉
Thanks for the patience, and all the best to you

Very happy everyone likes this thread and the updates, thanks again.
Not trying to be a hater or a nostalgia junkie, but I just don’t really like that theme. To each their own, though, and the movie version could be waaaaayy better. I know some of the openings were just snippets of the movie version, but I hope the movie one is an actually remake and not just an extension.

I concur on everything you mentioned. I was really disappointed that "This Dream" never got a full theme. There was something about it that pumped you up so much.
I was indeed hoping for a full one for "Be A Hero" as well. It took a while to grow on me but I ended up liking it a lot hoping a full theme would be in order. "Stand Tall" definitely captivated me from the start despite most japanese purist saying it’s not as good as Japan’s "XY&Z" counterpart (which I agree), but it’s no where near as terrible as people claim it to be; just different.
Thanks for this particular upload!
No problem guys, thanks for checking it out! So happy this thread is even still being found by new people now, and I’m super glad I was able to get it into other people’s hands. Hopefully I’ll be able to get that Magearna movie and rip a song or two from it, and the (hopefully) many movies after. As long as people are still finding this and are interested in it I’m willing to get and rip songs from newer movies to match this album, and keep expanding it further. Speaking of that, does anybody know how to volume adjust (not just normalize) wav and/or Apple Lossless? I would like to post this in lossless for all the audiophiles out there, I just can’t get the lossless to have the same polish and consistency. Thanks again, love y’all!
What I did to make it in the spoiler:
I took the original Wav files I used to make the mp3s, converted them to FLAC, and obtained FLAC rips of the songs from the offical albums (Thanks AcidBeast and R3v3rs3!).
I have pretty much never worked with FLAC before, but I managed to figure it all out nicely. I don’t usually listen to FLAC, but I will admit it sounds fantastic. You darn kids these days have gotta catch ’em all in FLAC! 😛
One problem I had was tagging the FLAC files, and them not saving the entire tag. I tried multiple programs, multiple ways, and multiple troubleshoots, but after about 2 hours of that I wanted to tear my hair out and just said screw it (lol), so the FLAC tracks are fully tagged other than artist, which is included in the filename itself. (Ex. 1. –Shinji Miyazaki– ~Opening~ [1998 Pokmon I Choose You! – Pokmon Indigo League].flac That is what all the filenames look like, and the title, year, genre, album, album artist, and track # are actually tagged on the files).
To be honest, some of the songs ripped from the movies don’t sound a whole lot different in lossless, as the source itself is either not mastered well or not lossless to begin with (usually both), but the album does sound great and the volume worked out extremely nicely.
One additional thing, note that the mp3 version of the album has not changed at all, I did not re-encode the mp3 version from the FLAC version, since the mp3 version was already converted from wav and FLAC, and was already tagged.
I hope everyone continues to enjoy this album, and I hope everyone will be pleased with the FLAC version! Thanks a bunch! 🙂

Enjoy, everybody!
Thoughts anyone?
Would you like this to continue beyond the 20th movie? Is it fine as is, and should be left on a high note as the dub’s music seems to be decreasing in quality?

There’s a new album out now, the first official compilation album since Pokmon X: Ten Years of Pokmon, actually IIRC, (you can find it here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/stand-tall-from-pok%C3%A9mon-movie-volcanion-mechanical/1327128179?i=1327128537 that features the intro and ending songs from the Diancie movie up through I Choose You.

I have no idea haha
I also am not 100% sure why you asked that here, but… yeah that’s all I got. Lol
Here we go again, "not available in your country".
I’m tired of this fucking shit.
There are too many people on this forum using crappy file hosts that are packed with malicious scripts and popups which end up as dead links after 1 picosecond.
If you ever feel inclined to add "Pikachu’s Coming" to this music archive, I certainly wouldn’t mind it. I know it wasn’t requested when you first put this up, but if you ever find the time and even want to do it, I’d certainly appreciate it!

I’ll consider it. It is pretty catchy 😀
I’ve been incredibly busty lately with everything, and with other gamerips, but my schedule will be freeing up a lot in just a few weeks. I’ll keep it in mind. Thanks for expressing interest!

No problem! I’m sure everyone is appreciating your work on game-rips. If you happen to do "Pikachu’s Coming", let me know!
I hope that FLAC version it is real FLAC not upconvert aka FLAC from mp3 ?

Yup, you can check the OP for more details, but everything is 100% real FLAC. For the songs from official albums, they were taken from lossless FLAC rips from here (the forums), and for the ones from movies, I converted the original wav files I ripped from the movies directly to FLAC.
But audio on DVD is AC3, AC3 is lossy format, not lossless as CD.
Again, see OP, but this is the highest quality available for the movie songs. DVD, rip AC3, convert to WAV, convert to FLAC.
The source file [AC3] is lossy, converting it into WAV->FLAC doesn’t magically make it lossless, (at best) it prevents further loss of quality. In short: not everything is "real FLAC".
I know this, but there is no lossless way to obtain these songs, making this the highest quality at the time.
Why some songs was never released on CD?
I have no idea, but that’s why I made this album.
